What in the... (AM3 socket related)

My recent mobo purchase has come in, and the AM3 socket doesn't look like anything I've seen before (I've upgraded from an AM2, so maybe this is normal?).

It's a Lotes socket, here's a pic from their site.



It's kind of tough to see in this image, but around the center is a raised, rectangular ring, and even more difficult to see is that in the center of that ring is a raised square (about 6 or so pin holes wide).

I've never seen a socket that wasn't totally flat. My proc is arriving today so I don't have hardware to compare it to, but I'm worried the proc won't fit. Is this normal?
