Good evening guys, I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless router which is a Netgear N150 WNR1000v2. My broadband is through Virgin media. The problem im having is when i go downstairs in the house into the living room my wifi disconnects from my ipad & i cant trace it, same happens on my phone & other laptops. When i go back upstairs i can locate it & connect to it. I had exact same problem with Belking N150 router which i returned.

My house isnt that big its a semi detached & i wouldnt say the walls or ceiling were that thick.

Any suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Many thanks

I've had this problem before in an up and down townhouse. The solution was a wireless repeater (access point0 which we mounted in the stairwell. No clue as to why the signal will travel through walls but not floors/ceilings. I do believe Netgear makes some pretty good ones which should be easy to configure with your existing router.

Hi guys now having a problem with wireless router upstairs. Only connects for a couple of minutes then i cant log onto it? Do Virgin have some encrypt that you can only use there wireless hubs? So frustrating guys everything is connected in the right places not sure what to do?

Thanks

Just spoke to my cable provider Virgin media & they have told me that there broadband service is encrypted & i wont be able to get any other router to work unless its there own hub as i would need a Mac address or would need to supply one from my router & there not willing to provide or accept. Surely this cant be true? There must be some way i can get a different router to work apart from Virgins?
