Hello, i recently signed up for a Bell internet account, and received a wireless modem. I then purchased 2 wireless adapters, one for my computer and one for my brothers. For the first few weeks both the computers were supper fast and browsing was a breeze. However for the last few days my computer has been very very slow. Opening and loading a simple web page takes a long time, no matter which page i try to open. The thing is my brothers computer is still super fast, and the modem signal seems fine. I called Bell and they said everything looks ok on their end and that its probably a issue with my wireless adapter. I am using a Trednet adapter and i have no way of diagnosing the problem. If anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

There are plenty of things you can do to diagnose the problem.
1. do as ddp suggested and see if it makes the problem swap over computers.
2. Try only 1 pc on at a time and see if you get better throughput with only you are connected.
3. make sure you have the pcs located in the same area for testing.
4. if using a usb adaptor, try another port.
5. Check drivers on the machines, not just the wireless ones, but the usb, chipset etc...
6. Run something like adaware to clean any spyware off the machine and see if thats the issue.
7. check system resources when opening the adaptor connection and then browsing - then do a comparison.
8. Shut down all none essential applications and try again.
9. I presume you have a wireless router with built in modem (i don't know whats available outside UK) if so see if you can set qos on the router, you want it set equally to each machine, and not biased to some protocol your brother may be using.
10. see if resetting the modem put things back to how they were before the issue started (do a full power cycle)
11. check your network settings haven't been altered, do a comparison to your brothers pc.
12. if needed optimise your mtu settings to increase your throughput, easliy done if required.

You could also try and manually change the wireless channel in your router config screen to see if that helps.

I would say a good test would also be to try it wired rather than wireless (to see if it is a wifi issue and not a PC issue)
