For the 9000x model it all depends upon your DAte Code on the bottom of the PS2
If you have Date Code 8c before March 2008, more than likely you can install fmcb 1.8 to the memory card

If you have a Date Code later than March 2008, and higher than 8c, then your only option is too use Swap Magic or install a mod chip as Sony changed the Bios in these units which disables any exploit.
