HELP Booting Multi-Game DVD on softmodded ps2?

I've got a v.7 fat ps2 model SCPH-39001. It is soft modded with FMCB. I tried to play the prince of persia trilogy (the one with all the games on 1 dvd). I succesfully booted the game using cogswap and it brings me to a menu where I can choose which prince of persia game I want to play. When I select a game and press X I see the PS2 logo and then I see the FMCB logo (the one you see when you boot the PS2) then the screen turns black, then I see the FMCB logo then again the screen goes black and so on.

What is causing this and is there a way to fix it?

Have you tried using esr r9b direct elf
First patch the ISO image with esr disc patcher v2.4a

I have all the games but not the trilogy.

Isn't it press circle instead of x, but I could be wrong, haven't played in awhile.
