This is just an idea I don't have much time to try and don't have all the parts as of yet. The idea is to first read the pickup on the ps2 when it is at the inner area reading the bca of a ps2 disc, with a logic analyzer. After that you would then take a limit switch or momentary pushbutton switch whatever you can rig up inside that works the best, with both normally open and normally closed conctacts, make a splice on the pickup and connect to the normally closed contacts on the limit switch, so as when the lens is in the inner area to read the bca it becomes open so it's no longer getting signal from the disc, then with the normally open contacts hook one end to the computer with a pulse generator creating a pulse of what was read with the analyzer, and the other end to the same end of the normally closed contacts that is opposite the side that comes from the pickup. This should trick the ps2 into thinking it is getting the barcode read from the burst cutting area when the lens is in that area, I'm going to try it when I get time it looks as though the splicing may be difficult however.

Also you could just use a switch with one set of contacts if you wanted to use some transistors insead, and also another thing that should work instead of the logic analyzer and pulse generator to generate the same pulse signal you should be able to take another ps2, or divx player that can read the bca, take apart, and get it to spin and disable the other part so it won't move the lens and have it on the bca area and have an origonal ps2 disc in that one in order to get the bca signal, and have the output of the pickup hooked up the same way as mentioned in the above paragraph, it wouldn't be required for the lens to move b/c its a barcode that it is reading.

Just want to say now that I've tried wouldn't recommend trying that, first can't find the schematics for the lens assembly, and the ribbon cable is extremely flimsy accidentally ripped mine and had to order another one, I still think it would be possible though if someone new a way to splice in to it.

This is what I want to try if I can find the right part somewhere now, I need to find sockets for the laser ribbon, and get an extra ribbon and some. The ribbon as somewhere around 20 or more pins, I'm thinking now the easiest way is actually going to be to just buy a separate lens assembly for around 15 bucks, and every single pinout to go from the ribbon, to the extra socket i got, then wires from their to a circuit I build with transisters for each one, pnp, so their are normally on, and then from my momentary switch voltage going to the transistors to cut them off when the disc is reading the bca, and another set of npn transistors to make connections from the other lens assembly with the actual real ps2 disc inside, the only think holding me back is finding the sockets for the Sony PVR-802W Optical Block, looking everywhere if anyone can find them let me know. Also to I'm going to saw the ps2 disc so that I can fit everything into a neat box to fit on top of the slim ps2 beside where the lid flips open.
