Okay, I have a huge epidemic here. Ive been going for the past 2 weeks trying to figure out how to play a DVD backup game(which is Sniper Elite btw)
I have Free McBoot installed on my memory card. I use uLaunchElf and a 2 gb usb to start cogswap. I put it under the APP folder. It starts up fine. And when I put in a PS2 game to load, it does nothing at all. Please help. If you need more details, just ask. I am more then willing to explain.
If you don't want to use cogswap, you can patch your ISO image with esr disc patcher, then burn the ISO, then use r9b esr direct elf to play the backup.
If your really want to use cogswap, the method is below:
You will need to have your sensors blocked or a flip top installed to use it.
How to use Cogswap
-boot up Cogswap
-place a PS2 disc in the tray
-wait til it displays the disc type
-press O button for CD or X button for DVD -wait til it says "use cogswap"
-then use a slide card (fat ps2) or sensor mod (Slim ps2) to swap out the game disc for your backup disc.
-press X to play the disc
Well, when I do the patching thing. My screen goes repeating. Like its a treadmill or something.
And with cogswap, nothing ever appears when I place a Ps2 game in it. I have the blocked sensors. Is it safe to run Cogswap from my USB? its just an .elf file. I go through uLaunchELF and find it. I just really want to get this working.
If your screen is rolling like a treadmill, that sounds like you have a PAL backup and trying to play on NTSCPS2.
YOu need to use adr patcher 0.5 - link You may need to register to download, but its free site
or pal>ntsc patcher - just check out sksapps.com PS2 section
Patch the ISO,then patch with esr disc patcher, then burn it again.
That is why it won't work with Cogswap I am guessing.
Do you have problems with any other Original PS2 disks or backups.
could be your laser is getting weak. Try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.
Clean in a circular motion for about 30 secs. Then using dry end, do same procedure for about 10 secs to dry it.
