Playing Burned games with ESR (fmcb)

Alright, I just need a quick how-to on playing a burned game with ESR, and if you even CAN play a HDD game with ESR.

I have fmcb1.8 installed and that's it. I installed fmcb with the multinstall option and left it there. I would really like to know what to do, as I haven't figured it out after looking online for hours. I first thought that I could play from the second partition on my 500gb external drive (I share this with my Wii, so 250gb of wbfs and 250gb fat32) but I couldn't find any guides on how to do that, but I read somewhere that ESR can play patched games of some sort? I just need a little help.
