Problems with SingStar backups

I'm trying to get some SingStar backups to run. Sometimes they'll run fine, but most of the time the browser gives me "The disc could not be read". Other games run correctly on boot, but have trouble playing when inserted on the browser screen. The ISOs run correctly in the PCSX2 emulator.
I'm using Bulkpaq DVD-Rs (CMC MAG.AM3), which I understand is an inferior brand; could this be the sole problem? I've never had any problems burning the discs with DVD Decrypter , just booting them on my slim PS2 . I'm worried that my PS2's laser could be on its way out.

Yes I would first try a different brand of discs.
Try Sony , Verbatim DVD-r or Taiyo Yuden
Then if the games still are not working properly, try cleaning your laser.
Do Original game discs play ok in your PS2 ?
If your having problems with all discs then perhaps your laser is getting weak.
Most likely its just the brand of discs your using.

It's only the backups, originals play fine, as do CD-R backups I've made on Verbatim media. I'll have to grab some Verbatim DVDs.

yeah definitely try some Verbatim or Sony media.
Burn speed also makes a difference.

Mm. I was burning the Bulkpaqs (16x rated) at 8x, as I heard that was helpful.
Well, there's one thing I've definitely learned: the PS2's laser is very picky when it comes to DVD-R quality...

Yes they can be. Well 8x should have been fine. Sometimes 4x works the best.
But usually with newer PS2 , burners and discs 8x should be fine.
So I guess then try Verbatim's and see how it goes.
