here's every single detail of what im using:
swap magic 3.3
fat ps2 w/ fliptop
sonyDVD-R DVD decrypter at 4x burning speed
or to rebuild iso's
isobuster, cd/dvd generator, and apache2
never once have i been able to run a game perfectly smoothly. there will always be some minor flaw at best.. whether it be the video and audio skipping here and there, or just flat out freezing on load screens.. and sometimes, i can run the game and it wont play smoothly but i can shut it off and try it again and it may or may not work better the second time around, so it's very inconsistent
i followed all the instructions to rebuild ISO's and that's what ive been doing although i dont really understand it's purpose other than making the ISO smaller (minimizing the size of dummy files)
i mean ive had swap magic for a while now so it's not like i'm frusterated from it not working the first time i've tried it out, i expect it. i dont think im in the position to blow any money off on any nicer mods either, so i just have to work with what i have
Most games work very well using esr r9b elf, the only thing is you have to patch ISO with the 'esr disc patcher' first, then burn them.
So you may not want to reburn all your games, although discs are pretty cheap anymore.
But it does work good for any new games you may get, and you can still use your Swap Magic 3.3 with fmcb 1.8
You can also use SM 3.6 or SM 3.8 ELF file with fmcb, the only thing is before you launch it, you need to have an ORiginal PS2 DVD game in the tray
That is what I use for any games I haven't patched yet.
There are lots of posts on this forum about the use of fmcb 1.8 and ESR or you can check the Official forums here - link
So you have a few options if you want them, and don't cost you anything.

i actually have a friend who doesnt use his swap magic anymore and will lend me out 3.6, i'll try that out and if it doesnt work i'll try all the methods you just described
thanks a lot for your help
what would you recommend as a quality brand of dvd's? i mean i figured sony would be pretty reliable but then again they might not be the culprit for the laggy video/audio
okay well i cleaned my laser with a cotton swab, rebuilt the iso and now i used use swap magic 3.6 to run this game on a sony DVD-R and it's freezing up worse than ever, on load screens it'll just stop completely
i dont know if im allowed to say this here but maybe i just torrented a bad ISO..

I am not sure how you rebuild ISO's, but not all need rebuilding to work with SM 3.6
If the ISO is 4.37GB or under the game should play fine with SM 3.6
There are only some games that need to be rebuild, and there is a different process for each of them.
Do you use Gnie's Xpert tool to rebuild, or are you just using the Nero method.
Just try burning the ISO without rebuilding if its 4.37 or lower and see if it works.
