Hi, I know this question has probably been asked like a million times, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere! I have backed up my own PSX games to my PC and want to burn them to a CD. What files do I need to do this. Everyone says different combinations of ISO BIN CUE and CCD files, thich ones do you really need?

how you make and burn them really depends what you want to do with them afterwards..

For playing in a modded ps2 you should use alcohol120 and burn in clone (ccd) mode at 4x with error skipping disabled.

for running in an emulator anything which gives you a nice bin/cue or .img file will do. Just save them and burn as data files.

I run emulators so I use k3b and dump as toc/data pairs.. same as bin/cue really.

Some later games need a special approach because they have different protection strategies.. always remember to rip with a dvd burner and make sure to rip the subchannel data (some games have the music there) and add it back when burning.

Well, I plan on using it on a modded PS2, the only problem is I've downloaded a bunch of different games, but not all have the same files.

Some have a .ISO .IMG and .SUB
Some have a .CCD .SUB .BIN and .CUE
Some have a .IMG and .CUE
Some have a .IMG .CCD and .SUB

How am I supposed to burn these when they don't have all the files?

they do have all the files.. they are images is all..

use alcohol120 to burn any image files with .sub files associated.. and tell it to "rebuild subchannel data from file" in playstation compatibility mode.

the others just burn like you would any iso or bin/cue pair.

simple answer.. NO .. boot disks MUST be pressed originals.

to convert a .bin image (with no .cue) to something burnable there is a program called bin2iso http://www.codeproject.com/KB/applications/Bin2Iso.aspx

I'm guessing the .bin image is intended for emulators... may not work if converted and burned.

Actually, you CAN play burnt PSX games (including cheat discs)on an unmodified PS2! You need to block the 3 sensors that read the dics tray is colsed (lost of videos online on how to do it with just electric tape and tissue paper). Then pop in a psx game, when the psx logo comes up you will see the disc slow down. When it slows down, quickly swap the disc for the burnt one. It'll then play the burnt game!!

occasionally.. seriously.. if it was that easy we would have NEVER bothered wiring up chips or designing printed swap disks..

Get this.. the PS2 swapmagic TOC is crazy taxi.. it's the largest TOC anybody found.

still the problem of the media check remains.. and as I am sick of posting.. very few games will allow a swap with a different TOC.. especially later disks.

I get so sick of trying to explain this to people with absolutely NO understanding of how the security systems actually work or are circumvented.. browser swap?.. that's mostly crap too.. good way to trash disks and lasers is that one... because a valid disk never stops spinning.

I'll admit, I know almost nothing about the inner workings of the PS2 and all that stuff, but EVERY game I have tried to burn and play has worked perfectly. I use the game Space Invaders as my "swap disc". I have tried Metal Gear Solid, the Resident Evils, the Final Fantasies, the Mega Mans, both Medievils, the Spyros, the Crash Bandicoots, the Oddworlds, the Tekkens, and a whole lot more. Not a single problem.
