Trouble Running Burned PS1 Disc

I modified my playstation so that I could swap the discs by taking the shell off. I managed to get FF IX disc 1 to work perfectly. But now I'm on disc 2 and cannot get that disc to work. I use a FF IX Disc one that is legit to do the swap. Any ideas?

you cannot swap the disk its a long story save the game then boot from disk 2
