so i paid this total goober to fix my softmodded xbox and well after 3 weeks of error 21 i got it back from him last week... and since then ive been ftping and learnign alot well the other night im watchin a movie on xmbc and the time stamp wouldnt go away from corner so i went to re install xmbc using AID.. when i did this and rebooted screen was black and red lights were flashing i then put disc in and waited forever(have a crappy dvd drive) and then i could boot my dashboard via AID..

well waiting 20 mins every time i switched a game kinda got to me so i started noobin around with AID and well i now have error 13...

i dont know how i did it i think i unmounted c.. idk.. but it only reads legit xbox games now.. nothing burned no cds and im torn.. i have a couple questions

1: he used mechassault to remod my xbox.. can i get ANY copy of mechwarrior and redo the mod?,, and if so i would only have to redo e and c and not lose my f and g right? theoretically? theyre soo fully i have a 250 gb hd in it... he wants me to pay him 45 bucks to redo it and well im not trusting the alcoholic to my stuff anymore ive learned more in the last 3 weeks then he knows.. sad and im not gunna pay him if all he has to do is throw in his game and recover it

2nd: if not is there anyway i could throw that 250 gb hd into my other xbox that i just modded(mins ago.. my first soft mod ever after hours of trying to get linux ans SC game save on to my home made usb-xbox controller jack...) without losing my f and g? oh and i believe the 260gb is locked.. its an ecelstor drive i believe.. idk it came with it lol

side notes the xbox that is crashed is a 1.6 idk about the one i just modded..

i dont think hotswapping is an option as i only have a laptop and a tower with sata connections at my disposal...

ive tried the xbox live thing with halo2 and lotsa sports games and a few call of duties and it just reboots the system and the game starts back up...

now i am a noob and as u can tell from my rambling but specific tutorials or directions as to what to do would be greatly appreciated... thank you

a softmod should only touch 2 files on C and the dash directory on E .. that's it.. everything else will stay same as..

there is one quick and dirty way to get back to a functioning dash sometimes (depends how screwed up it is) .. cold boot a legit game and go to live settings.. no network connected.. dash may or may not update.. if it does let it finish and reboot back to a stock M$ dash and run the exploit again.. you need to take the game out after it updates.. ffs.. brain.. ON.. eh? of course it will reboot to the game if you leave it in..

some of us devs actually opposed the softmod dash updated files because they screwed up the live update quick fix.. but the softmod writers ignored us and look where it got everybody.. hahahaha.

guess you learned NEVER piss about with the main dash on a softmod.. EVER.. and xbmc as a main dash self destructs way too easy to trust... unleash or evox are the only pair that can be trusted in that job..

Yeah I tried gettn on live with halo2 and it says start troubleshooter I click on that and wait and it just restarts game doesn't go to any dash of any sort... just goes to xbox screen that shows up when a game boots then the game boots... I was wondering if I could set this 250gb as the slave on my new one then just copy E AND C off of newly modded other xbox over... like using chimp but can it b done if the 250 is locked? Grrr so frustrating... is there a step I'm missing in the live update thing using halo2? I've tried it 3 times just while typing this msg

Sorry for double post....

Could I set my 250 up as a slave and hook it up to my newly modded othe xbox and copy a dash I downloaded over using file explorer? With this work if the 250 is locked? Or if I get a copy of mech assault couldn't I redo the mod itself as I think the game saves are still there...

And would any copy of mech assault work?

I'm not tryin to pay him 30 bucjs for using a game for 30 seconds ya know?
