Just in case anyone ELSE is still working with original XBOX. If you have a PC that gives you the "FROZEN DRIVE" problem. A solution that works on at least 5 different PCs that I have tried is to have the drive connected to the PC, power up the comp and let it get to the xboxhdm main menu. Disconnect BOTH the power and the IDE cable from the HDD, then re-connect the IDE cable then the power cable, then proceed to the locking tool. This will allow the PC to SEE the HDD and have it listed in the BIOS, then by unplugging and re connecting it, you effectively remove the freeze on the HDD and the comp bios still recognizes the drive. Now you can lock the HDD. Hope this helps anyone still upgrading XBOX HDD (like me).
