Unlock 6101 from US T-Mobile to UK Vodafone (ASDA)

Hi

I have inherited a 6101 from my father who had it based in the US on the T-Mobile network.

I took it to the local unlock store who charged me to unlock the phone. It is now unlocked for Orange and T-Mobile and O2 in the UK but will not find Vodafone (the providers for the ASDA SIM I have). The unlock man tells me it is impossible as this is a US phone - but I have checked and Vodafone works on the same frequencies as Orange, T-Mobile etc so I think he is not being honest ?

Can anyone help me to get this working - I would really appreciate it this is my momento of my father (recently passed away).
