HTC Touch Pro 2 animated wallpaper.. possible?

I have multiple .gif images that I have tried uploading into both the My Wallpaper and My Pictures folders. When the .gif files are in the wallpaper folder, the images show up on the Home screen but are stuck on one animation slide and not cycling. When the .gif files are in the pictures folder, they play/cycle properly in full screen but there is no way to set an image as wallpaper.

Are .gif files not compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5, if not what files are?

Anyone find a way around this dilemma or is it not possible?

I have a 1st gen Moto Q and the thing is already ancient and couldn't do anything as it is!
