Hey all,

This place has been a great source of info to me in the past. I stopped playing after 5.00 M33 but recently want to pick up the PSP again. Does anyone know a way to go straight from my version to the newest CFW?

Why do some readme say you must start from official firmware and then upgrade to CFW 6.39 or 6.60 M3 v1. Is that how it's done these days?

If so, in order to upgrade to official firmware from 5.00 M33 do I just dump OFW 6.39 eboot and run it?

Thanks all. I'm completely lost right now..

You can update straight to 6.60 MEv1.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

hey, i posted this on pspiso as wel, but i think i can change you mind on going to 6.60. Ok. All you have to do is go into the etc folder in flash0 and then open up version.txt, and change where it says version 5.00 or whatever lower firmware you are using, and change the number 5.00 to 9.90 (thats what it is in gen) or you can do it by making it 6.60. also, you can downgrade from cfw like 6.60 pro r something like that by changing the version.txt to 4.01 and then running the update. that will stop your psp from saying "there is no need to update" or anything like that. this is one of the easiest things ever (but still back up your version.txt in case) and i have done it to my 5.00 psp. keeping a pandora battery is the best thing, but if you use this method you will not have to replace plugins and or enter in new router info, which is a hassle. my umd drive is completely ****ed up (it was somehowe glues shut (i had it in my backpack once) so i cant upload any iso's. i have sold all my games to gamestoop, though, so i have some cash to waste on stuff for my psp (like led's) also, what is in flash2, because i heard that you could do some cool stuff in there, and ALSO is there a way to access orignal icon info and stuff so that i can make a ctf theme (am on a mac)... i ramble...... oh and i AM Cx3_Death so i didn't steal this... i will post that i am cx3_killz on afterwawn so that my sig makes sense. and if there are any admin seeing this, i want to change my name

I'm in the same boat as the OP and an wondering about upgrading so I figured I might ask here instead of making a new thread. Is 6.60 MEv1 the suggested firmware right now? I've been out of the scene for a long time and only recently upgraded to 5.00 m33-6. I was just recently told certain games I want to try like Dissidia 012 require a higher firmware though, so any info on what I should be running and where to find it would be greatly appreciated.

There get the latest version of 6.60 ME CFW (not LCFW, those are for unhackables).

Can you write a brief guide on how you exactly went from 5.00 m33-6 to 6.60 ? For people like me looking to do this :)

Thanks

No step by steb guide neccessary, you are already on custom firmware, all you need to do is update (and change the UMD driver in recovery menue). Just follow the four-step readme that comes with 6.60 ME 1.6.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.

hi, actually what ended up doing was update to the official 6.60 FW (can be done at sony's site, or one can download the file from psp scene sites), and only then i updated to 6.60ME 1.6.... all works now like a charm, and the whole process took me only like 3min (surprisingly fast). Even my original games, that refused to boot without an update, work now. have just lost all my plugins, so have to install equivalent ones. all so good so far

thanks anyway

You could have updated to 6.60 ME directly. Are you running full CFW or LCFW?
