Hello,

I have a old phat model with 5.50 GEN-B (full) FW but I have huge problems to
get the psp to work properly, due to this it has been collecting dust for a while.
I get "could not be started" on most games and the few that starts frezes when playing.
A few old games that worked before on other FWs wont start now.
Im using a 4gb Sony Duo card....and its quite slow when transferring a game between pc an psp.
Any suggestion what I can try to make it work again?
Upgrade or downgrade FW?
Any help appriciated.

The folder "psp/game/update/EBOOT.PBP" needs to get copied to your memory card as it is. And copy 5.50.PBP to the memory card as well, just don't copy it into a folder.

That's weird, I've never had a problem. You can try checking your settings in the recovery menu, hold R at start up to enter recovery menu. You could also try formatting the memory card and trying again.

Uh... let me think...

1. Copy all your savedata from the Memory Card to a PC.
2. Goto the 'System Settings' and select 'Format Memory Stick'
3. BEFORE copying the savedata back try running Hellcats Recovery Flasher (LINK) and download the 5.00 update and put in the same folder (LINK) then reinstall 5.00 M33 using the recovery flasher
4. Then upgrade to 5.50GEN D3 (FULL)
5. Download the plugins for the 620 support (See my other forum HERE)
6. Then try again.

[PSPWXP STATS]
PSP: [PSP N1001 (WHITE)][6.60 PRO-B10][8GB M2]
PS VITA: [PCH 1002][1.66][16GB MEMORY CARD]

DID AS MENTIONED HERE: (remember im a newbie so i may have done something wrong)

Installation
========================================

Painless and easy:
Copy the RECOVERY folder from the archive to /PSP/GAME/ on your
memstick, so that you get a /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder containing the
apps EBOOT on your stick.
Now copy the official Sony 3.71, 4.01 and/or 5.00 Update EBOOT, renamed
as 371.PBP (401.PBP, 500.PBP), into the RECOVERY folder as well, or into the
memsticks root folder.

The 5.50.PBP just goes in to your memory card not in any folder.

I recently got another PSP, and I used ChickHEN to get to 5.50 GEN D-3. I didn't have any problems. Have you tried resetting to default setting before updating? I will look into the errors your getting.

"Hen mode detected....limited options"

get this info message at the beginning of upgrade....nothing to worry about?
Reset default settings didnt help.
I do have a feeling that there is something wrong regarding 500.pbt as
I get the same error if I choose Target 5.00 or 3.71 or any other FW option in recovery flasher (hellcats)

Thats the problem, when you use hellcats recovery flasher. As soon as it detects HEN, it goes into safe mode in order to prevent n00bs from bricking there psp systems.

Re download the 5.00 update and try again. Rename it to 5.00PBP, NOT PBT.

Just making sure, are you using a real memory stick or a knockoff/fake memory stick.
