Hello from Maine :)
I am not savvy with the PSP, but I was able to softmod one a long time ago. Details here :
http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-149...to_6_31-901319/
Anyway, now I would like to downgrade 6.31 to 5.50, the nfo for the game I want to try claims it works on "5.50GEn D3"
Can I get a clue ?
Thanks,
Craig

What PSP do you have? 1000, 2000, 3000, PSPGo, E-1000? Depending on the model downgrading isn't realy an option and also 5.50 GEN is outdated, there are newer firmwares that don't require a downgrade.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Why do you want to downgrade then? You already have custom firmware on your PSP, so the game should work without downgrading or without doing anything else.

OK let me fire up this PSP :) It belongs to my daughter and I only have to mess with it once in a while. I am old school and know more about mod chips than soft mods LOL
So I check the PSP and it is at 6.39 ME-5
There are 9 games on the memory stick :
Disgea, the game could not be started 80010087
Project Diva 2nd, same error
Harvest Moon Boy & Girl, same error
Harvest Moon Hero of Leaf Valley, same error
Gurumin, same error
Diner Dash, same error
Me & My Katamari, same error
Harvest Moon Innocent Life, same error
Class of heroes, works perfectly (???)
So I took a look at the card contents and saw that class of heroes was in a directory like PSP/GAME and the others were all in ISO, so I deleted "Class of Heroes" but it did not resolve the problem.
I guess I'll look up that error number.
Honestly, if this thing was mine, I'd just load it up with NES and call it a day LOL
Thanks!

OK, I think it's resolved :)
Press select on the main screen to open VSH menu, then change "UMD ISO MODE" from "normal" to either "ME Driver" or "Sony NP9660".
It seems to work :)
Thanks!

Class of Heroes seems to be homebrew, the rest are official games. I bet your daughter used an original UMD in the drive to play the games?

I don't recall how that file got on there.
Anyway, the best clue you gave me was that I did not need to downgrade, thanks :)
Usually I just need a clue then I can search around and figure out soft mods. With hard mods it was much easier - solder and play LOL
OK, thank you and have fun :)
