So when I took apart my psp 2000 and tried to bridge the backlight fuse, I, in my total inability to solder, ended up with too much on there and connected the small square next to it. Obviously, when I put everything back together, it doesn't turn on. I don't even get a power or charge light.
So, my question is this. If I manage to get the solder off with solder remover (solder wick) maybe bridge the fuse at the same time, will things start to work again, or have I ruined things permanently? I obviously do not know too much about shorting circuits or soldering in general, so any tips are appreciated. Also, how does one solder correctly? I tried a few tutorials, but uhhh....
depends on what that square does. what are you using for a soldering iron & what shape is the tip as in a point, slot or what? are you using a solder sucker or solder wick to remove solder? make certain you use electrical solder not plumber's solder.
I don't actually know what the square does. Its right next to the backlight fuse on the back of the motherboard. As for the soldering iron its a pointed tip, a long one, and I want to use solder wick to remove the electrical solder. I couldn't find a pump.
put the solder wick ontop of the solder you want to remove then lay the tip across the wick to spread as much heat as possible to melt the solder. would be better to use a shorter point or better to have a slot tip when removing solder. do not put much pressure on tip when removing solder as you might damage that sqaure if it is a pad or chip. do you have or can borrow a magnifier lens to make certain of no solder bridges?
