i have a psp-1000 phat on 5.00 m33-3 ver
all of the new games are giving an error "the game could not be started (80020148)"
i made the famous proper solution link for it but it didnt succeed
how ever
i know i didnt modify my psp in AGES
and i mean that for 3 years now or so
i noticed there is a 6.xx for psp and there is a cfw for it(not sure though a friend told me)
and also heard that this ver cant allow you to play psx games or application like on psp which sucks
and also heard of the Prometheus-3 for M33
i dont know what the prometheus is or what it does but somehow i think it is better from upgrading to 6.xx
i want to play the games the new ones and play the psx's ones
please how can i play games without upgrading (i think that upgrading can make the psp .....well you know like not losing any feature plus not be imprisoned from playing on it by using some kind of a software like the late chickhen )
please correct me by any wrong thoughts i wrote for i have become an ignorant in this things

You have to update anyways. Prometheus only works with 5.00 M33-6.
Only upgrading to official firmware will make your PSP lose the ability to play backups and PS1 games.
Do this one update here and you are good to go:

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

i have downloaded the file which contain the EBOOt.pbp
i just have to know a couple of things before moving on.....like hows the installation works cause they havent said much on the web either on the file
i read the steps on this page (link ) it is the V.1 of it
it is the same steps but to put the new eboot instead of that on the page ...right?
and another thing i noticed a guy saying that he can no longer play iso's and cso' file
um....will this happen to me????
i know he didnt mention his psp type nor his ver but still i have to ask
on a second thought and after long search and reading on the net i think i will install it
but
the question that have to be asked is that half of the people are saying that downgrading to 6.35/6.20 and install PRO-B5 is better than the new 6.39 Me V2

i have downloaded the whole thing
put on 639.pbp and the eboot.pbp in the PSO/Game/update
and then i go to the games on psp and it gives me "corrupted data"
what did i do wrong......
To answer the question about the guy who said he wasn't able to play iso and cso files anymore: Go to VSH menu (by pressing Select) then set UMDISO MODE to the driver you prefer, it can get set back to normal when updating (you need an UMD game in the drive in order to get it to work on normal).
Also the PRO non-permanent cfws aren't better, even with the Perma-patch. Some games don't propperly work on them and no access to PSN. Also no recovery menu. They are a good solution for those unhackable PSPs and the PSPGo.

I've been outta da scene 4 a while.. I recently took my PSP to S.A and everyone went crazy for it.. thou it is sold there--just for much much more. I have a Phat 1000 running 5.00 M33-6 CFW with some ISO & SNES Emu. I tried to load prometheus-4 but got a copy error?? What other choices do I have with playing 6.20+ games.. Wat is out there in the homebrew realm?? Wats better the ME series or Pro-B?? Does the VSH & Recover menu still allows you to change the game and MS speeds? Wat else am I losing from M33?
