Hmmm, I have a LiteOn iHAS424 but theres no letter on the end. I'll try anyway, but how would we know the disc burned correctly? Or "fully" I should say.

Eventually you will run into trouble because the remaining 3% off data is not being copied over with the tutorial method. just start saving $20 for a new burner if you want no problems.

That is a good reason to familiarize yourself with the utility's here http://club.myce.com/f44/eeprom-utility...2-0-new-112103/ I say make a backup of your eeprom for later, if it may be needed. The program will also show you what drive version it is.
For your question about how to know if good burn, that is for when we have the firmware to test those things.

Right now, only Forza 4 requires this new burning method. We have no idea if there will be a point were all new games will require a full %100 like Forza or not.
Either way I don't care, I'm going emulator.

That has the model number IHAS124-19. I've seen posts from people in the UK that ordered one of those and received a B model, but I haven't seen any posts from people who ordered one and got an A or Y model, so you should be good. I can't say that with 100% certainty, but I think you'll be OK.

Nope. Same with UK retailers. Everyone seems to be getting B models, unless the people who got A or Y models aren't posting for some reason, haha.

Are there any external DVD burners that are compatible? My only computer is a laptop. I have a SATA to USB converter that I use to connect an old internal hard drive as an external drive, would it work properly if I used this to connect the Lite-On drive to my laptop?

No, but you can buy an external 5.25" enclosure that does SATA to USB 2.0, SATA to e-SATA or whatever connection is good for your laptop.

Ok, guess I'll pony up the extra $30 for an enclosure.
