i was informed that the xbox 360 update would be releasing today and would continue till the 30th....my xbox has currently lt+ 1.1 fw...i have the dvd keys backed up...so should i update today...oh yes im a xbox live gold member and i only play legit (Orginal) games online not backups...so please help...

I just wanted 1 more good night of xbox with my friends then the dashboard update hit. I guess I'll be waiting for feedback like the rest of the world!!

even if you update theres still going to be 6 more so you might as well just wait for LT+2.0 or a workaround for it

how true it is i dont know, but i heard if you use xbl, update is auto and it reverts drive to stock. so as b1gh3ad says just wait for new F/w. i think waiting a while is better than a trashed drive and ban.

I didn't apply the dashboard update just a little bummed that it became available on the 18th @ 9 p.m. Hopefully this will all get sorted out within the next couple weeks :)

There was a deal a week or so ago that if you created a new XBL account, you could get one month for 1$ (up to five months). I created one just so I could test and see if the new dash will ban flashed consoles.
If the update rolls out today, I will sign on to XBL with my newly created ID and I will update a flahsed xbox (an older xenon that I dont really care about). I will report my finding to this forum and others as soon as I find everything out.
If the update does come out today, I will have to wait until I get home from work to apply it. I will have this done around 7pm EST.

If you do update and it flashes your console, can you try re-flashing it and see if you can 1. Still go on xbox live with the new update and re-flashed firmware, and 2. If you can play your back-ups with the re-flashed firmware with the new update.

Of course. The drive is an MS28 so when I supply this info, DO NOT assume you can do the same thing with Liteon/BenQ drives. If the Console is not banned after the update, I may try a second console with an older Hitachi drive.
I realize 1 person and 2 consoles is a VERY small sample size, but I am sure there are many people out there who would love even a sliver of information on this issue.

Probably the same for drive where we lost the DVD key, huh?

yup i got one of my buddies bringing his spoofed drive back to me so i can add the original drive and see what happens

The update got a friends Xbox. It had a Benq that I flashed with LT+ 1.1. I still had his original firmware. So I reflashed it with LT+ 1.1 and he's back to playing back ups and staying off live for a little while.

I have 2 systems I'm testing right now for this event. One is a Samsung and the other is a Hitachi. Both have the latest firmware available for each corresponding drive. I am on the West Coast of the U.S. On the Samsung, I'm being prompted to update. When I switch my hard drive out to the Hitachi, it does not require an update and I am capable of playing as normal, as it is not prompting to update to latest dashboard.
The Hitachi is a 79 revision firmware.
Just thought some of you might have the same luck....attempt to log in...if you're prompted to update, choose no...if you're not prompted to update, then welcome back to Xbox Live...at least, for now.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

so i reflashed some boxes a while ago that i had keys stored,booted back ups normal but ap25 games like cod halo etc didnt work,until new patches come out,also had a friend that had a spoofed benq as a lite on,threw in the lite on there got the update and re used the benq spoofed as a lite on and still working on live right now

So i decided to get on xbox live and play with my mod not think anything about the update and now when i put in a modded game it says play DVD i dont think im banned because i can still get online but i damn sure cant play any modded games smh
