Someone asked me to write a guide for this, so here it is.

What is abgx360?

It's a tool that checks Xbox 360 game ISOs. It can fix various issues with an ISO, including patching in missing stealth files and the topology data required for LT+ 3.0. It also has online functionality and can check an ISO against information held in a database of known good retail rips.

The current version of abgx360 patches all AP2.5 games for use with LT+ 3.0, so please bear that in mind before using it as games patched for LT+ 3.0 are not compatible with earlier versions of LT+!

Download and installation

Download the program here: -

http://www.abgx360.net/download.php

Once you've installed the main program, download the video ISOs that are listed at the bottom of that page. If you download the self-extracting video ISOs, they will automatically be moved to the correct directory on extraction. If you download the standalone ISOs, you will have to extract them to the correct directory manually. To find your stealth files folder (where you need to place the video ISOs), fire up abgx360 and press Ctrl + F, then hit "Yes" and it will open the folder for you. The video ISOs are required if you have a 360 game ISO that has a missing, incorrect, or corrupt video partition.

What is "stealth" and "verification"?

Stealth - When an original game is ripped, certain information is ripped and stored in "stealth files" inside the ISO. This information is what makes you safe (as safe as you can be anyway) on Xbox Live and it's what stops your console being flagged for failing anti-piracy checks such as AP2.5.

Verification - abgx360 works in conjunction with an online database. Trusted users rip retail discs and then upload the stealth files from their rips to the online database. When you use abgx360, if the game you're checking out is present in the online database, the stealth files are compared with the stealth files in the online database. If everything matches, your game is "verified". If it doesn't, then abgx360 will patch in the stealth files using the verified files from the online database (as long as you've set it up to do that).

So it is vital that your ISO passes the stealth checks. As for verification, it depends. If you are ripping your own games and you know what you're doing, verification is not that important as you already know that your stealth files are good as you ripped the game yourself.

Setting up abgx360

This setup guide is for people who want to make use of online verification to check and autofix ISOs. If you're ripping your own games and you absolutely trust your own rips, you may want to use different settings (more on that in the next section).

Run through the various tabs in abgx360 and make sure that your settings look like this. You can ignore the QuickStart tab as nothing needs to be set there.

Options tab: -

Manually Patch or Extract Files tab: -

AutoFix tab: -

Rebuilding tab: -

Misc tab: -

On the Misc tab, press the "Select..." button to the right of "Your console's region code" and select the region code for your particular console, rather than just copying my setting. You don't have to set your console's region code at all, but if you do, abgx360 will warn you if a game you're checking out is from a region that won't play on your console, so it can save you wasting a disc and wondering why it won't boot.

Once you've got everything set up, click File - Save Settings..., make sure it says "Default" without quotes in the save settings box, then hit OK. Your settings are now saved, so when you fire up the program in future, it's ready to be used.

More on the AutoFix tab

If you're ripping your own games and you don't want to have your own trusted stealth files patched by those that are in the online database, then you need to change the AutoFix Threshold on the AutoFix tab. Lower it to level 1 or 2 depending on what you want. Each level has a description of what it does, so you can work out which setting is best for you.

Using the program to check an ISO

1. On the main program window, make sure that "File(s)" is selected from the Input drop-down list.

2. Click the little folder icon, upper-right and browse to your ISO and select it.

3. Hit the big Launch button at the bottom of the screen.

Using the program to check a burned disc

1. On the main program window, make sure that "Burned DVD" is selected from the Input drop-down list.

2. Make sure your DVD is inserted into your drive, and select your drive from the drop-down list near the top of the program window.

3. Hit the big Launch button at the bottom of the screen.

Obviously, abgx360 cannot autofix data that's on a burned disc. If your burned game fails the stealth/verification checks, you will need to rip it with ImgBurn (or your chosen program), run that ISO through abgx360 to patch it, then re-burn it.

How to interpret the results

Green = Good
Yellow = Warning
Red = Bad

If you see all green, you're good to go. If you see any red, something is wrong. As for yellow, it really depends what the warning is about and whether abgx360 was able to autofix the problem. For instance, if a game is not present in the online database, then the ISO you're checking will fail verification simply because there are no stealth files for that game in the online database to compare with, and you'll see a warning about that in yellow. That doesn't necessarily mean that your rip is bad. It just means that it cannot be verified at this time. Use your own common sense to interpret the results, but if you get stuck, just ask. Post your log (or a screenshot of it) if you need to ask a question.

Is there a list of verified games?

Yes, there is a searchable database of verified games, HERE.

Thanks man, and no probs. I think we've got most stuff covered now when it comes to AP2.5, LT+ 3.0, ISO checking and disc burning. Bring on the n00bs! lol.

So this is good to go then correct?

My DMI is not verified. But since this is from my personal retail copy I should just trust it? Is it a good idea to make sure that the SS is version 2 and trusted? (Because some of my SS come back unverified and those are from my own retail copies as well). I only use my benq drive with 0800 v3 firmware to rip games and use the lastest version of xbox backup creator.

Thanks

The DMI can vary depending on where the disc was pressed and even the batch. It's very common for the DMI to not match with the online database, so if you've ripped the disc yourself, you know what you're doing, and everything else checks out, it's nothing to worry about.

And yeah, SSv2 is preferred for online play.

That log looks absolutely fine.

So let me ask the dumb question.., just to confirm, with the use of the new abgx we no longer need to use the universal ap25 topology data patch correct?

That's not a dumb question. :D And yeah, this will patch in the topology data for you, so as long as you either get the message in green saying "Topology data is currently verified" as in jerecho's screenshot above, or abgx360 downloads it and patches it in, then you're fine.

As all XGD3 games currently use the same topology data, it should definitely be able to patch those. As for the 6 XGD2 games that are affected by AP2.5, it will work for those too as long as the topology data is in the verified database. I haven't tried it, so I don't know. If not, you can manually patch those.

Assassins Creed 3 - Brotherhood Before and after ABGX. I used all settings explained in this tutorial and disabled writing just to see what it looked like before. No more need to manually inject topology data. Thanx funksoulb for yet another great tutorial.

Those settings aren't better.

Those settings are almost identical to the ones posted here, but they have unchecked the option to check for AnyDVD corruption and not bothered setting the console's region. Neither of those things makes their settings better. In fact, they're arguably worse.

What's the point of checking "Adjust SSv1 angle" if your using iXtreme v1.14 or greater and every guide i see says to set SplitVid to "Add if it doesn't exist". Isn't it pointless if your using an updated firmware?

Hi, the guide is really helpful, but I have a problem: when I try to check my ISO, it says that it does not recognize it as a 360 ISO or stealth (I'd love to post a screenshot, but being new I cannot. There isn't anything to see, apart from the yellow lines saying [...]isn't recognized as an XBOX360 ISO or Stealth file). I know of course that it is a 360 game. Could it be because I patched the wave to 3 with another programme or is there something I should care about?
Please note that Im totally noob, so feel free to treat me like an idiot and not give anything for granted ;-)

@darthlord82 - Currently there is no point in doing that, but it's not going to harm anything if you do do it and it adds no extra time to the process. You never know what's going to happen in the future, for instance, with older versions of iXtreme it didn't matter if SplitVid wasn't present so people wouldn't bother checking that box in abgx360 to fix it if necessary, but with Lite Touch, you have to make sure that SplitVid is present, so I'm just thinking of all potential future possibilities.

@pjd1 - I have no idea what would cause that. Have you tried running chkdsk on the drive or partition that contains your ISOs? Have you tried defragmenting that drive/partition?

@Nores - See the reply in the other thread you made about that issue.
