Hi, I have just ordered the kit i need to flash my xbox as i have previously had it done by somebody else but can no longer get in touch and have deceided to give it a go my self.
i currently have lt.20 and want to upgrade it to lt 3.0. the latest games i put in say i need the latest dashboard which i have read will stop my xbox playing backup games until its flashed again.
I have also read that before performing these dashboard updates i should flash my console back to original stock but i dont have my original keys as i said before i have been getting it flashed by somebody else.
Could somebody give me some advice about how i should go about updating the dashboard and then flashing my console to lt.3.0.
should i get all the keys currently on the xbox and them just update the dash and reflash or is there any other ways.
look in the stickies under guides, everything you need to know is there, personally as far as updating i would just download the current update to a flash drive and update from that!
The thing about the dashboard update flashing your drive back to stock is only half true, it depends on what dashboard you're on now. If your dashboard number in system settings is below 2.0.13146.0, updating will flash back to stock. If it's 2.0.13146.0 or higher, you're good to go. Also the thing about flashing back to stock before updating: I never did that, it's just some precaution method.
Even if you don't have your original keys anymore, you can still flash back to stock, get the firmware that's on the drive at the moment, spoof the key into an empty keyless original firmware for your drive (you can download these, try the dashhacks network, google for that) and flash the spoofed firmware back to your drive.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Thanks for the reply, i am not too bothered if my xbox gets flagged as i dont really go online and if it gets banned it gets banned.
Should i use the probe to get the keys before i update to the latest dashboard or would i be ok to update it first then get the keys etc when im flashing it to lt.30.
i just want to make the process as simple as possible without messing up my xbox.
thanks
First of all, update to the latest dashboard. If your drive gets flashed back to stock, you might need a new firmware dump. There have been people who have flashed after the dashboard update using keys from a firmware dump created before the update and their drives didn't match the console anymore.
