According to VG247 and "some third-parties", the Next XBOX will be launching on Christmas 2013, and will have a Blu-ray drive.

VG247 has learned that Microsoft has now detailed Xbox 720 to certain partners and has internally confirmed the machine for a Christmas 2013 release.

The next generation Xbox will have a Blu-ray drive, contrary to a recent report.

Multiple sources have confirmed this morning that the machine will have two GPUs. One said: ?It?s like two PCs taped together.?

Two GPU's? Two PCs taped together? What does that mean?

We?re waiting for final confirmation of specs, but the graphics cards are thought to be equivalent to AMD?s 7000 series GPUs, but ?not CrossFire or SLI?. The GPUs aren?t structured as they are in a normal dual PC set-up, in which the two chips take it in turns to draw lines of the same object: Xbox 720′s graphics units will be able to work independently, drawing separate items simultaneously.

Additionally, a few other important details were shared:

* There will be ?four or six? cores to the Xbox 720 CPU, one of which will be reserved for Kinect and one for the OS.

* Xbox 720 will require an always-on internet connection as an anti-piracy measure.

* We?ve also been told that the next generation of Kinect will be built into the device as standard.

Always-on internet connection? Regarding that, Patrick Garrett of VG247 has said:

I was told the always-on thing was ?like Steam?. So maybe there?ll be an offline mode, or something. I was told it was a requirement, though.

This rumor sounds plausible, but as for now, take it with a grain of salt. There is still a long road ahead!

this is from maxconsole.net

wonder if there going to do what they said with this, stop playing used games

Always on the internet mandatory? Yea, great, so when your internet connection breaks down you can't play anymore or what? Also if you don't have an internet flatrate you're screwed, massive costs. And I bet the WiFi dongle is an accessory sold seperately again.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

blu-ray is a dumb idea. I guess M$ can't see into the future with a "NO" disc solution. Go solid state and be done.

Seriously, I can't either. There are enough regions in the world were people have the money for a console but the internet connection sucks. And Microsoft wouldn't lose those customers.
