Just backed up gears of war 1(first ever backup) and popped it into my flashed benQ and it played just fine.

The second time when I popped it the drive starts up(you can hear it starting) and then you can hear it just starts making a ticking sound and does not read just shows "reading game" on the screen. I tried a few times(about 7 times all ticking sounds) and finally it played again but after that i tried once more just to make sure and it is ticking sound again -_-

Is this a bad media brand disk or something else ?, not got that fancy brand disc yet so I just used a 8.5gb dvd+r dl 2.4 speed and burned it at 2.4 aswell called Mr.DvD.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
just popped it in again and this time it played, could it be my laser ? but if it is it plays retail games just fine.

I can't find any info on "Mr DVD" discs, but they sound pretty suspect to me. So at the moment I'd chalk it up to bad media. I've had that happen with Memorex, TDK, and others. Sometimes they read, and sometimes they struggle. But yes, it could be your laser.

But you need to give more info on your problem:
- What program are you burning with? I recommend ImgBurn 1st and CloneCD 2nd.
- What brand/model burner are you using? I recommend a Lite-On iHas series.
- What is the Disc ID # of those Mr DVD discs? Load one up in ImgBurn and it'll tell you.
- What firmware is flashed to your 360 BenQ? You should be on iXtreme LT 3.0
- What dashboard is your 360 on?

Use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs (made in Singapore).

Thank's for the reply , I was just inspecting these these disc and they look pretty poor quality to me, Ill try and get some Verbatim DVD+R DL like you said.

When i get a chance ill pop one in the drive and find out.

I used imgburn with my asus drive, it had no issues in past with burning DVDs backups.
benq is flashed with ixtreme LT 3.0.

dash board was updated to latest version yesterday before I flashed it.

clicking noise usually means laser is bad, you should always use verbatims though, sounds like you will need to replace the laser as well.

True. But also when the laser starts to go bad, It will struggle reading CADs but will generally be successful reading Verbs until it truly goes bad. Just something I've noticed.
