My XBox was banned from live around the time CoD:MW2 came out, I still played it from time to time, but recently it has not been on in a number of months, and has not had a dashboard update probably since MW2 release. Last night I decided to get it up to date, and able to play some of the new protection scheme games.
So I start getting everything ready for a flash. As I am reading through flashing information, I read I should update my dashboard before I apply a new firmware to the drive. So I try that, with the lastest dashboard update file over USB. It goes into a infinitely update look after that. I try to hold the sync button down while powering on, thats a no go.
So I try different updates, as I read using older updates may get it to work. So I go back through every updata from now, through 19## something, and those did not work either. I continue to research, and find out that the update most likely is erroring due to the 1.61 firmware that is currently on my drive, so I start trying to flash that back to a original firmware file.
I am unable to find my old USB thumbdrive I originally flahsed my BenQ XBox with, so I try to use a original file I found online, but I am unable to read the drive, I am able to pick it up, but when I read it just locks up. I hear this is because the 1.61 firmware on the drive currently, will not give up the key.
So I am basically at a loss now, are there any other setups I can take to try to fix this SNAFU? From the looks of it, I just did things a little out of order. I am flashing it on a NForce 3 250GB chipsetsata controller which worked great the last two times I did it.
Are you using the latest jungleflasher and did you also download the latest pdf that walks you through the whole process with a chart that specifies what to do with particular previously flashed firmware?

I would try a ata card / or 360 usb.. I think you have a driver issue or maybe the drive was in the middle of flashing over when you powered off. does the drive recognize as normal when powered on in JF?
