How do you know which file it is you need to burn? I get .iso, and .r00, .r01, .r02 etc etc. Can someone dumb it down for a complete noob on what to do?

assuming this is a 360
what does the included info txt file say or the web page you get it from
normally you'd get either just an iso & a txt file (layerbreak) which you just burn or a bunch of files like this:
sdtc-c.r00
sdtc-c.r01
sdtc-c.r02
sdtc-c.r03
sdtc-c.r04
sdtc-c.r05
sdtc-c.r06
sdtc-c.rar
ignore sdtc-c thats just the file name, using winrar you'd right clik on .r00 & xtract to where ever, once extraction is complete you'd get an iso to burn
there's no point burning the iso you have unless you know whats in it i'd use 360iso extract then run the files on my jtag to make sure it works

I don't have a jtag :( I only have a flashed console. Will the same process work for a flashed console?

i'm not certain why you have an iso file with the rars unless you have extracted it,so it would be best to move the iso to another folder anywhere you like, now use winrar to extract the contents then run the iso thru abgx

Hm, thank you for that info. I was using imgburn and IDK if it's the DL DVD I am using (I haven't purchased another brand yet) but it keeps failing around 40%. I'll give this app a try!

It looks like this one is just a weird download as the others I got last night have EITHER an .iso and a .dvd file OR the .r00, .r01 etc files.

ImgBurn is going to be your best choice due to the fact it can be tweaked for each system and burner. If you tried to put the .img file into ImgBurn it will tell you your stupid and correct it to the .dvd file ready for burning. Now that everyone has shed some light on your zip file you now have the problem of either a wrong burner (not compatible with the payload tool or burnermax),bad settings and poor media.Look at the tutorials on this forum to get a clear indication of what is needed and the correct settings needed for decent burns. Also provide us all with the image file size, your burner model, programs used for image burning and basic system setup.

My drive is a Memorex DualFormat DVD Recorder --- link I forgot to turn on BurnerMax last night when trying to burn simpsons-ntscu-cs.dvd but using imgburn it succesfully burned, failed verification though started constant erroring at 49%. I am hoping this is due to cheap bad DL DVDs I tried. Was just using what I had on hand to see if it would work, they are RiData link and I have a hit or miss time using them to burn 'quality' home movies. The burn from last night also had horrid stats when I used KProbe2 linkto check as well, if memory serves my P1C1 error rate was around 850 which is vway vway to high!
What is the payload tool? I obviously missed another step! And is burnermax & payload tool required to run even when the file size is small enough to fit on a dl dvd? For example, the .iso size for the .dvd file I was burning last night simpsons-ntscu-cs.iso was only 6.8 GB which easily can fit on a dl-dvd.

The image size is a xgd2 game. The problem you have is your burner and media. The payload tool is used to increase the disk writing size but only for xgd3 and can only be used with a compatible burner. It may be worth trying to get your hands on some verbatim 003's (Singapore) to see what the results are.Failing that purchase a ihas or drive that can be cross-flashed with burnermax firmware or a sony optiarc 5280s-cb plus which can burn xgd2 and xgd3 right out of the box.Kprobe will give you a false positive as its use is for Ihas Version B's only.Use nero if you want to check the quality of the burns if successful.

I knew the burner wasn't on the "ok" list but it wasn't on the "NOT OK" list either so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the Vermatum DL DVD and hopefully they will be here soon. Do you think this burner is going to not work, and I should go ahead and order the Sony Optiarc?
EDIT _-
And If I do need to purchase the SONY drive is this the right one?
