I have 2 Jasper consoles that are just dying for some new FW to play back-ups!

Has there been any confirmation of waht drives will be 're-flashed' by the update? I heard all of them EXCEPT Hitachi's.

New FW? You can play all the games now on all jaspers. As stated above you'll probably see FW only for Liteons and BenQ's. Hiachis and sammys just work.

Sorry, my 2 Jaspers (one with a 9xxx one with a 8xxx v2) both have stock FW. I refused to put LT FW on them wit hthe dash update coming out. Looking ofrward to LT+ 2.0 so I can finally flash atleaast one of them.

In addition, I was under the impression that the new FW was written so that the drives could properly read the new game format. Is this correct or is MS just trying to re-write the FW in an effort to slow down piracy?

I'm not the expert here but I believe the new dash is going to implement some new security checks and requests from the drive fw. So the drive fw has to be updated to give correct responses to the dash inquiries.

New Post says the update will be May 19 - May 30. In addition, what about the drives that dont have the ability to do the AP2.5 checks like the Sammys and early Hitachis?

No one is going to know until after the release. Best to wait and see what is posted after the dash has been tested. Better safe than sorry. Samsungs and hitachis usually simply just work since they don't support ap2.5 checks, but this update has nothing to do with that.

C4eva sure is awesome. The sooner M$ releases the update to patch all games to AP2.5, the better. It saves having to back up the same game twice. I'd say Gears 3 will be in the new disk format. M$ will try to force impatient pirates to buy the game. I just hope the game will be worth buying.

the 0800 fw is probably for dumping xgd3 games into iso and patching them so that they can actually fit on a dvd dl

they will prbably just update xbc to support xgd3 and AP2.5 dumping. Unless someone makes a new firmware the kreon drive cant be used because it doesnt recognise what xgd3 disk is
