update your FW to 1.20 newest beta and it will boot just fine. Already beat it on my xkey.

Where do you guys get 1.20? I'm on xkey's website and the newest I see is 1.12 in their downloads section.

yea i have 1.12 how do i update,my sd card is only 128 mb and i can only add the bin firmware,
nvm i do this on my hdd i remember

The SD card never gets touched after the FW is on it. Extract the zip to your flash drive,connect your remote and plug your flash drive in. Will say updating, then complete. Reset console, Done!

The xkey looks great and I'm thinking of buying it but I wonder how future-proof it is. if its constantly connected to your drive, why is MS not banning xkey users? Can they not detect it? Its like its too good to be true. Surely MS will find a way to make things more difficult.

Nobody knows how MS detects modded firmware, or how they may be able to detect an xkey, you're always taking a chance. However, I like having an xkey better than custom firmware on the drive, when we KNOW that MS has been able to detect custom drive firmware in the past. Not to mention, let's say you do get caught and banned, oh well. Keep your XBox for offline use and you can still use the xkey. The xkey still blows away current modding methods. You don't have to constantly re-flash your DVD drive when new games come out. If new games come out that won't play, the xkey team releases new firmware for the xkey and it takes 30 seconds to put it on your xkey. You don't have to open your xbox at all. You also don't have to buy blank discs every month or two, or worry about games not burning properly or getting coasters. And finally, you can have a couple hundred games right on an external hard drive and don't have to dink around swapping discs in and out. The xkey wins, hands down, any way you look at it.
