Hi
Am creating new thread as I think the earlier one got stuck and I think I can wrap this up quite quickly. Task is to unlock Hit 79 using unlock CD etc. Have previously been able to send drive to mode B but then got Failed to play unlock CD message etc
Problem I have is that my drive is not being recognised by JF when I send mode b. JF confirms mode b sent and the drive shows up in the top left corner of the Hit tab and also in the main window underneath. However it doesn’t show up in the drop down on the right when I send mode b and that is obviously the problem. Am I right in thinking that the drive should show up along with the PC DVD Drive which is there?
The other thing is that the drive seems to be stuck in mode b when I turn it on so that could be linked. Is there an obvious way of getting it back to mode a before sending mode b etc etc.
I have SATA with drivers uninstalled etc etc. I‘ve tried using API, Port IO etc.
I know I’ll probably end up buying a USB Pro but wondered if there was an easy workaround to clear this problem.
Thanks for your time.

Why are you creating another thread on this? stick with the last one. How many times do I have to tell you, "you do NOT send mode B" on a 79????
1.) Unlock with audio CD sends it into mode B
2.) stop multi posting the same BS
3.) you post the same crap everytime you flash your drive.
People aren't going to hold your hand every single time.

You never learn your lesson do you amigo. If you bothered to look at the JF tut and the Hit tab you know that it advises to send mode B then use the audio unlock CD.............................
I know you don't read the tut as it has too many long words like it and the etc etc.
I'll ignore your crap and wait for some of the adults to post.

Modking30 knows his stuff, although he didn't need to be so harsh. He's just sick of people asking the same questions over and over. The USB Pro is a nice approach, if you continue to get hiccups with JF seeing your drive. It makes things much more convenient if you have friends that need their 360 flashed also. Sometimes with my 79 I have to use my other desktop to get JF to work properly (a Win XP machine x86). My main machine is x64 Win7, and it has problems most of the time with my 79. If you have another desktop with XP on it around, try using it to flash your drive with JF. You might have more luck.

Thanks
I just wish someone would clarify this issue aboutJF seeing the drive etc It does see the drive as in it appears in the top left hand corner of the Hit tab and in the main window underneath. It goe into mmode B fine but just keeps saying Failed to play audio unlock CD etc. Am I right in thinking that the drive itself will never show up in the drop down on the right hand side as I have uninstalled the drivers.
Pleased if someone could explain this at least (not the teenager)

Hitting the send mode B does nothing on the 79 and I could careless what you think you've read. I've flashed more hitachis than the amount of posts you make on the same topic (which is hard to beat) and all you do is use the unlock CD. Stop being a noob and people will like you. Posting multi threads is against the rules amigo.
Since I am so wrong about sending mode B on a 79 here is what the JF tut states:
Quote: It also incorporates a Raw Mode-B command for putting a drive into Mode-B and automates the Play/Pause/Eject for 79Unlock – Audio Disc still required!
Once the drive is actually in Mode-B you can use the flashing options located in this section of the application, the options themselves are pretty self explanatory.
Now, tell me where it says to send a mode B?
If it fails to unlock, then guess what? Your laser is crap!!! as I have told you in your 50 other posts on this same exact topic.
I think I rest my case

Ofcourse I bow to your superior knowledge as you've spent more time flashing drives than on your schoolwork. (middle grade wasn't it!) I wonder why the main window only says mode B achieved when you do the mode B procesure? I'll try your method and see what happens.
Amigo estas un hijo de puta bastante gorde.

C'mon guys... We're here to help each other in a nice way. Please watch the language TonyJer as there really are kids on here that can read Spanish, besides it might offend some adults. Arguing on the internet is so useless.... Let's all try to be adults here. If you don't have a Win XP 32-bit machine, you might as well grab the USB Pro. It makes things much easier, although you still need something to power the DVD drive. If you know any friends that need future flashes, you could make your money back :). I hope you get your drive working TJ.
Side note: I've always had to have the drivers installed on my XP machine in order for it to see the hitachi in the upper right tab drop down menu. Also, after it reads the audio cd, it says, "no hitachi drives found". For the heck of it, I just hit the refresh button in the upper right hand corner of JF when I first encountered this problem. Seems to work every time now. Good Luck!

Tony,
The issue I have is that you have posted this in several threads. You also post every time you have to update your drive. As suggested, I think you should invest in a better tool but your case seems to be the laser.

Hi again
Hope we're all friends now. Didn't meant to offend anyone (apart from....). Seriously I have Win XP 32 bit. Here are my logs using Win API with VIA drivers installed and the Port IO with them uninstalled. If you have the time to check them out I'd be very grateful.

I am starting to wonder if you have a 79 at all. Maybe someone changed the cover. I've seen that before. If it goes into mode b when you send mode b that would make sense. After you hit send mode b and it says in mode B. See if you can do a read?

I'm with you on that one, usually the jf program will auto select the drive in the drive list once it sets mode b. What drive is selected automatically? 47/48 78/79 ect..
that or back to the original question at hand... is your laser good? if so try adjusting the pot settings up a bit.. or better question yet.. did you burn the unlock cd correctly. there are alot of factors here.

Hi
Yes it does all that. The drive appears in right hand corner in JF and in My Computer in Windows. The problem is that although the drive shows up in Windows it won't play audio CDs etc. Keeps asking me to insert disk when I've already put one in!

Hi
Yes it does all that. The drive appears in right hand corner in JF and in My Computer in Windows. The problem is that although the drive shows up in Windows it won't play audio CDs etc. Keeps asking me to insert disk when I've already put one in!
I would use PORTIO, not windows.

I've used PORTIO a hundred times makes no difference. Was really hoping that someone could advise whether theDrive rev undetermined aborting etcwas more about VIA chip set that the state of the DVD drive. I've ordered a new lens but am worried the problem is more about the chip/sata connection.
Thanks

OK but assume that this message is more about VIA card than DVD drive itself.

try another pc if you have one, that or a totally uninstall and reinstall the via card and see what happens could be something quirky causing a conflict.
