Hi i need help on finding a flashable xbox slim. I still need to have the ability to play online and i heard it is doable with xk3y only. I found that i needed a liteon drive and not hitachi. and the firmware needs to be 14719 or lower. now to find one that meets those needs.
14719 was feburary this year? so if i find a NEW sealed xbox that was manufactured before this then it should be compatible right? i looked at xboxdrivelist site and most were liteons drives. Then after finding one that is made before feb 2012 i can look at the manu date and determine the drive brand?

flashing has nothing to do with dashboard, very soon most liteons will be flashable, playing online has not been an issue!

quote: A tenth update has been released as part of the Fall 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta program. This latest update brings the Xbox 360 dashboard/kernel to version 2.0.16197.0. Backups continue to work fine under LT+ and xk3y, both offline and on Xbox LIVE.

that is for a dashboard that is not public yet! the only problem you may face is getting a drive that is not readable, 1175 will be soon, 1539 no time in the future!

so if i want to play backup stored on hard drive then i can get ANY dashboard version. The version only matters if i want to flash the drive to play physical backup disks?
does this mean i can get any xbox slim and i can play iso backups?

dashboard only matters for RGH, to use XK3Y or flash the drive your concern is going to be the drive!

i hear XK3Y uses RGH to work, but it can be any firmware. And someone else told me drive doesn't matter only firmware version, really confused, can you help me clear it up? they told me anything over 14719 can't be hacked too..
to confirm i'm only interested in loaded iso that are on the hard drive not burnt dvds

The XK3Y has nothing to do with RGH, it is a "Drive Simulator". The XK3Y allows you to play iso's from a hard drive, you must be able to dump your firmware and key in order for the XK3Y to operate! all drive except hitachi 0500 and liteon's 1175 and 1539 are usable, the 1175 drive will be usable very soon, the other 2 could take a year! Regardless of which method you choose to do you will be required to perform tasks, there is no plug and play solution! to play backups or use the XK3Y you will need to be able to dump your firmware from your drive! depending on where you live, a lot of the suppliers of XK3Y will do this for you, for a fee!

maybe he's a moron LOL! the reference to XK3Y and RGH is if you have an 1175 drive the only way to get the key at the moment is by doing the RGH, that will not be the case shortly because the dumping method will be available soon, i'm sure it will not be as easy as using JF to read it, some kind of hardware or trace cutting may be required!

The only reason you would want to stay at that Dash version, is if you wanted to RGH the box. Because after that dash update, they haven't been able to RGH boxes anymore; they're still looking into it.
But ya, if you have the 1175 drive like peluynati said, RGH will be the only way to get the key info at this time, since there is no method released to the public yet. It's currently in testing!

Oh, so i need 14719 and a drive thats dumpable and that means i can XK3Y it. But how come people say they can use the latest dashboard version with XK3Y? Do you really need RGH for XK3Y? Or does it depend on what drive i have?

dont think so, dashboard again has nothing to do with it, that is unless you have to do a RGH to get the drive information, as long as you get an 1175 or before(before would be a lot better) you do not have to RGH, in the next few weeks you will see the 1175 dump method surface, the reason it has not already happened is because of the fall update, now that it has been released, they will wait 10 days or so to see if a revised version is released, they will check lt3.0 for 1175 against that and then release the firmware, with that release the dump method will be revealed, what that means to you is no need for RGH therefore, no need to worry about dasboard!!!

What is 1175? How do i find out that number? Is it in the serial?
Does 1175 refer to the drive firmware?
Okay i've researched and the answer is yes. So i need a drive that is not 16D5S
i go to this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_hardware
so i can get 16D4S OR 2S any of them yeh? Does this mean i can get any xbox slim (regardless of mfd) as long as it doesn't have 16D5S?
But then on their XK3Y page
http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EFuyuFAEZpHVQnNsaJ.php
they say 1.25/1.26 supports 16D5S?
If i wait till they fully support 16D5S, does that mean i can just go to the store and get a brand new XBOX and it can be XK3YED

if you get 16d4s you will have no problem, the xk3y supports the 16d5s but the method of getting the drive information is not available yet!

You can Google (Xbox360 dvd drive database) its very helpful in finding a console you need! Phat or Slim I found my slim on here with a compatible drive! All you have to do is before you buy a used console or new console look on the back side of the 360 unit for the manufactures date before you buy it than confirm it with the 360 database its that easy!!!!
My system!!!!!
4gb xbox 360 slim
Manufactures Date: 2011-05-06
Philips Lite-On 16D4S firmware version 1071
Dumped Dummy.bin with USB PRO
Xkey 360 Firmware version 1.26
All game iso's running smoothly online and off!!!
Also take note make sure your on the latest dashboard before you extract your stock drives dummy.bin and place it on your xkeys micro sd card

Yes you also have to flash the dvd drive to lt 3.0 to play backup dvd games along with your xkey and no you cant use your xbox slim hard drive you have to use a external usb 2.0 hard drive to store your game isos on!!!!!
