I have tried to flash my benq drive with jungle flasher several times and I keep getting the error message on my xbox to ( play this disk in an xbox 360 console ).
What am I doing wrong.
Where is the best place to find the firmware I need I have used the firmware from IXtreme.net I would like to download the firmware from somewhere else to see if this may solve my problem.
Thanks

what does JF say the firmware is? did you outro the drive before you disconnected? did you power cycle the drive before you put a disc in it? are you sure you got the key spoofed to the firmware?

When I rehook my drive to my pc and select read the firmware section is blank? I did outro the drive. I am not sure what you mean by power cycle do you have to turn the xbox off and on after installing the drive, I just turned it on and put in the game.
I hit the spoof button and it seemed to do what it was supposed to do.
I am new at this sorry.

it sounds like you didnt write any firmware to it, did you follow the JF tutorial? do you still have your key? did you use the benq unlock before attempting to read? do originals work?

what you should do is unlock it, read it, and tell me what key it says it has, i dont think the key is correct!

if it came that way then i'm afraid to tell you that there is no way to fix it, it does not have the correct key, if it was that way when you bought it then the key is lost, you can do a RGH on it and retrieve the key, but that is the only way to do it, otherwise it is a nice dvd player!

if I put a different board in the drive do you think it could be fixed. Is the key stored on the board its self. I have extra boards.
And could a liton board be put in a Benq drive they are very similar.

you can only use the original board that was in the machine, if it was working like that, then that is how it was when you got it, you can check your key database in JF and try writing the key that was on it to the board, but i'm afraid it is not going to work. if you google reset glitch hack that will tell you all you need to know about it, it is not for the week at heart, or novice! a lot of tools have to be purchased, and to be honest it would be easier and cheaper to buy a new one!

I have replaced the board in the dvd drive and now have a dvd key.
I flashed the drive and checked that the flash took by telling jungle flasher to read the drive again and the software was there but when I go to play a game the same message shows up ( please insert disk into xbox console ).
I do not think I have the right firmware.
Where is the best place to get firmware hacked original it does not matter to me I just want to play original games.
Thanks

when I inter the target firm ware and tell it to write it to the drive then recheck it to see if it took the original firmware still seems to be there.
I am following the tutorials I watched to a tee but I still must be doing something wrong.

Sorry to write so many posts but I keep trying things and new stuff keeps popping up.
I now have a blank area where the firmware should be the dvd key is still there, and I have tried to flash firm ware to it but when I go back to jungle flasher to see if it took there still is just a blank space.
What do you make of that.
Thanks for your help.

look in the stickies and you will find a link to the newest JF, you need to be using 1.92! all you need to do is open target firmware, make sure what dashboard you are using and use the firmware that goes with your dash, once all that is done, your problem may be a laser issue, if you are getting the play game and still not working your laser is weak!

If post #16 doesn't work for you, here's some advice.
It's not the firmware that's causing the issue, it's the dvdkey. You say that you replaced the board in your dvd drive. Here's the problem: When you bought the Xbox, it was already opened up and somebody probably tried to do the same thing that you're trying to do. Like peluynati has stated, in order to get the RIGHT dvdkey, you'll need to RGH the console. I'm sure that your dashboard revision is above the 7371 kernel, so you probably won't be able to JTAG it. You see, the 360's motherboard has a certain key that needs to match the dvd drive's board key (paired). This is just an example: A182D9FF0B50E312C69DD589FFA2B901. If you count, there's 32 characters there. If just one character is different or out of place on either the motherboard or the dvd drive's board, you'll get the error message every time. Since you can play movies but not games is the perfect sign that you don't have the right dvdkey. It's not going to play originals or backup games regardless of what drive you put in it. If you're not concerned with playing backups, and if you have the money, grab a new one like peluynati has already suggested. By all means, you can RGH (reset glitch hack) the console, but it would be an offline console only. It would get banned within a few hours of connecting to LIVE if you RGH the console. RGH is a pain in the butt, but it does have a few advantages over a non JTAG or non RGH console. One example, you can install an external HDD and put your retails on it so you don't have to get up and change the disc in the console to play a different game. Of course, the con is an offline console. Most people who game that I know have a regular 360, and a modified one (either by firmware, JTAG, or RGH). They play LIVE on their retail, and play backups and XBLA on their offline JTAG or RGH. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

It looks like I will have to RGH my console I also have several other consoles that probably need the same thing and two spare dvd drives for use in the same situation. So where is the best place to learn how to do this and purchase the parts I will need.
Thanks.

I used google when I did mine. You need a soldering iron and a few other things that any tutorial will tell you about. dont buy a cheap Rgh board. You will most likely find that its cheaper to buy a already working console unless you have solder equipment. I made a homemade ltp cable to dump my nand which is the cheap way out but it takes 6hours just to dump my nand twice. nandx is way faster. theres prob a few others. If you dont have any of the stuff you need you can figure it running 150ish just for the stuff and tools. thats going with descent stuff not the china knockoff stuff. Then to do the hack isn't the easiest thing in the world. More people fail than succeed. Id recommend buying a pre jtaged console or a replacement stock console if you wanna go on line. If your real good at following tutorials word for word and like a challenge and or plan on doing many then it may be more worth doing it yourself.
Two things to keep in mind. One there are dashes that cant be glitched so you'll wanna check that yours is glitch able first. The other thing is that after you jtag and get your keys you can flash the original nand back and pull the glitch board to have a stock online console. Of course you'll need to spoof your dvd key with jungleflash and use the right firmware. Oh one last thing If you got a Xenon 360(non hdmi then none of this is possible)not all but some xenons came factory with benQ drives
