Trying to flash a drive from a broken 360 to another one. The first one has E74 RROD and nothing seems to fix it. SO I got another 360 from a friend for 25 bucks. Extra controller, and a game for it too. Good deal even if the 360 works. But now I need to flash the drivekey or whatever to match right? The dvd drive in the other one is a Phillips & lite-on but the one in the RROD xbox is a Phillips & benq. So can I make this work?

Ok so after much reading I need to take the key from the lite-on and send it to the benq? I'm not understanding this all. Any help is appreciated.

I've seen ways to do it free but making a probe seems like a pain in the ass. We're just going to finally buy a slim 360. This is too much effort honestly and no one around here does it.

A hundered $ in tools? Must be an expensive switch then:

But depending on what's broken a flashing might be unneccessary, if it's just the laser of the BenQ going bad you can switch it with the LiteOn's laser, those two drives are almost identical.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Sadly not. The lite on doesnt read anything and the benq works for the most part but it refuses to read some games without tapping on the console while it reads. Makes a grinding sound but the drive is moving fine. Tried cleaning it and all. Laser on both is going bad but the benq works at the least. You think I can remove the benq laser and put it in the lite on?

I personally would buy a RROD box off ebay with a BenQ drive in it and flash that drive with the old BenQs key. No use in doing the LiteOn when it's already going bad.

One important thing to keep in mind is that there are new checks when booting newer games so that if you dont have the original type dvd drive then you cant boot anything that came out after last september. you'll get a black screen with the E66 error unless you only use old games. the only way around that is to change the keyvault to the one the drive came out of but that would require jtaging or glitching both consoles to get the cpu keys and would require that both systems are working to do so.
