Hey what's up. I'm really lost and confused here. I flashed a liteon (which my cousin is using) a few years back and I just got a hold of an xbox from like 2006/2007 with a Hitachi drive.
How do I flash this and play XGD3 games? Like, do I just flash it to LT 2.0 straight up using Jungleflasher? Or do I have to do some other things?
Also I have a flashed Samsung drive in the basement somewhere, how would I be able to use that in this xbox (I know it's not as simple as just a plug and play type thing).
Thanks.
Oh yeah, and the firmware for the xbox has not been updated since 2010. Not sure if I should update (wanted to try some demos).

Thanks for the response.
Luckily it's the 47dh. I'm about to follow the jungleflasher tutorial to flash this.
One question before I do, do I have to update to the latest dashboard first? or can I do it after I've flashed (since xgd3 games need a newer dashboard to work right?) and then put the drive back in? I heard with liteons, when you update,, the drive becomes stock again or something. I don't want to flash twice.
The latest dashboard is I think from late 2010/early 2011. That's when my friend bought a slim and put this one away.

As long as your drive isn't spoofed, when you update, LIVE flashes your console back to stock. It's recommended to flash to stock before you update because it might flag your console server side. The older Hitachi drives are fairly simple to flash with JF. You're in luck with the particular model, as it can play on live without corrupting your gamertag, and flagging your console due to AP2.5 challenge fails. This is what I would do in order.
1. Open your console and take out the dvd drive.
2. Connect it to your computer, and if necessary, use your 360 to power the drive (not recommended). If you power your drive with your 360, plug in A/V cables so the 360 doesn't shut off on you while you're flashing the drive! If you already have a connectivity kit to power your drive, then great!
3. Run jungleflasher and click on the Hitachi tab.
4. Get your drive in mode b.
5. Return to stock (make sure you have all of the firmware in your jungleflasher/firmware folder)
6. Return the drive to the 360 and update via LIVE.
7. Take drive back out of 360 and hook back up to the computer.
8. Get the drive into mode b again, and flash LT2.0+
9. Put dvd drive back in 360 and play your backups once again.

"Return to stock (make sure you have all of the firmware in your jungleflasher/firmware folder) "
This Hitachi has never been flashed, so isn't it at stock already? So I can just skip to 6 and update with LIVE and then flash LT 2.0 right?
Once again, thanks guys. BTW I don't care about playing online.
EDIT: This is my dashboard version 2.0.12611.0

Yes, you could just update to the latest dash via LIVE, and then flash LT+2.01 (thanks user473 ;). It's probably a good idea like user473 has mentioned and save your key, just in case your drive dies and you have to flash the dvdkey to a new/used hitachi (same version that you have "47dh"). It's always good to know your dvdkey, just in case.

My Hitachi drive isn't being detected. I've used the same setup to successfully flash both the liteon and samsung in the past. Right now I'm using JF 1.90 beta, the newest one. I've tried everything in the tutorial. I have a VIA 6421 card.
EDIT: Just checked, and the Samsung gets detected...
