My 360 is stuck on the update screen from trying to update with madden 2012. i was told that i would have to flash back to stock, update to latest FW , then flash to latest ixtreme.
my question is, will i be able to flash my liteon drive without a connectivity kit?
I bought the Probe 3 but not the connectivity kit. will i still be able to flash with just the probe? i have the DG-16D2S. the drive was flashed by a friend who doesnt have the original files for it. so i have to extract the key again but i am not sure if i will be able to with just the probe3

thanks in advance

I've never done it like that I use a ck3 but it should still work using an xbox for power. If you use an xbox for power and the pmt method just where it says power off drive for 5 seconds just turn off the xbox for 5 seconds and back on and press ok that should still work, if not you've got nothing to lose.

EDIT: as long as you don't erase the firmware without the key that is.

sorry if im missing something but i google the PMT method and it looks like thats only to convert the old probes to version 3 probe. i have the probe 3 and i was planning to power the drive through the xbox but im confused on how the key gets transfered to the pc.

Just use the probe with the xbox and Jungleflasher. Use the phatkey method and then press the button on the probe that cuts the 3.3v power line after you pressed phatkey (it says what to do on screen) then probe mxp01 and turn the switch back on while holding it in place (still probing) and press ok. It should say serial flash found status 0x52 now you can stop probing and then it tells you to power off the drive for 5 seconds (turn off the xbox for 5 seconds) then turn it back on and press ok and that should be it.

just like steo said,

but it's definitely more convenient to have something like the connectivity kit to power cycle the drive.

it's a shame you bought the probe instead, it's by far the easiest part of the process to 'do it yourself' as its only a ground. you could probably get away with taking your shoes off and holding a pin with your bare hands to do it, but i would suggest clipping it to the metal case. I guess my point is that you might need to make sure the probe has access to a ground, i don't personally have a probe 3 so i'm not quite sure how it works with out the connectivity kit.

I have a ck3 but I got a probe v2 cause my probe v1 broke (this was before the probe v3 came out) so I just added a switch to the 3.3v line on the power cable instead of buying another new probe and it works perfect.

@siloner12 let us know how you get on.

What you have to do is flash back to stock and put the drive back into the xbox and update the dashboard, then flash to the latest LT+... you might have to do the update through a USB stick if you don't have a retail copy of the disc it started updating from or just flash LT+ then continue the update using the backup disc.

EDIT: actually your drive is already stock since you got halfway through the update so you should be able to update the dashboard via usb. You're on that update that flashed your drive to stock

Are you stuck on an update screen again or just when you try to update you get the error?

Try the steps here on your error http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-360/...tem-update-help

you need to flash orig-02510C-1c000.bin to complete the update

sounds like you flashed an older version of the LT firmware, anything before 1.9 is modeled after the old stock firmware not the new 02510c(lite-on) stock firmware. during the update the box looks for the new firmware and fails if it's not present.

the newest iXtreme firmware for your drive is LTPlus-025-v2.0.bin if your interested.

I have updated my xbox360 elite with a lite on drive via usb without reverting back to stock. I don't have the drive key, Is is still possible to retrieve the key using the latest jungle flasher using a probe 3?
