In October I had my Arcade reflashed which at the time was the latest available in order to play XDG3s (LT2 I think? I'm losing track of the numbers)
I've been playing gears3 without problems - all this is offline of course, playing splitscreen co-op up to Act 5. I had a quick look at ofline beast mode, got owned then turned it off. Now when I put the disc in it loads up the pic of marcus but once clicked to launch I get one of 3 error messages;
- Disc is dirty or damaged
- Disc is unsupported
- An error message I forget the code
I have read that most Gears gamers are having problems on consoles the age of mine, and it seems to happen after splitscreen co-op. However every complaint I've read about retail copies of gears freezing report that the game always starts up but freezes in the menus or in game. So I'm not sure if I'm experiencing their difficulties or this is something separate, as mine wont even boot up. I've burned 2 more Gears, one of which on a verb. These are the first burns that I've ever had any trouble with so it wouldnt appear to bad burning- especially as the game worked for over a month.
I've been on live to watch some sky and thats working fine, so it seems the console doesn't know its flashed. All other copies still work too so the drive is still ok. The only thing I noticed is the night before these problems I took gears out then closed the tray, so it closed without a disc in it, and the xbox made an unfamiliar noise, it sounded like a phone on vibrate. As though it was asking me "wheres the disc? I'm not used to not having to read anything".
I've tried starting the game in different profiles but the same error occurs, also copied to the HDD but still no luck.
Anyone know whats going on and why gears have suddenly stopped turning? (pun intended and not being apologised for)
