I had my Xbox modded when I was out of town and when I brought it back home afterwards I get an E66 error when trying to update. Is there anyway to fix this? Taking it back to the modder is not an option.

Unless you have the dvdkey, then you're pretty much out of luck. The E66 is due to you updating your 360 and having a spoofed drive (different brand drive using the same dvdkey as the original drive)inside the 360. Try powering your 360 on without the dvd drive hooked up and see if you still get the E66 error. I'm not sure if the update bricks the drive that is in your 360 if it's not the original drive, but you could try to dump the drive with jungleflasher and see if you can get the key. Jungleflasher should tell you that it's a certain brand drive that is spoofed to a different brand (example: benq spoofed as lite-on). If you can dump the drive successfully, then look on ebay for the right drive (spoofed as *). Once you receive the right drive from ebay, flash your new drive with the proper dvdkey and LT+1.9 and you should be back up and running. It is possible that when you updated, M$ may have flagged your console since you didn't flash back to stock first. Good luck!

You just need to buy the ORIG drive type and flash with your OFW just like Bill states. I've said many times now, spoofed drives will not work on the new dash.

How do I even flash? I'm pretty computer savvy, but clueless as to how to flash a system- which is why I had it done it done for me. What do I need to do?

Spoofed drives are not safe on live, keep in mind.
