My original xbox does not have a working dvd drive. I use ftp to transfer all my games to the hdd. I wanted to play halo 2 again but cant seam to get it working and its killing me cause I actually own the disc. I cant load it through the dvd drive and when I ftp it over from a downloaded iso or xbe format it wont work right. It load up go through the Bungie logo and when i get to the main menu their is no text at all. I tried blindly loading the game to play figuring it was a minor thing and it crashes at a specific point in the opening cut seen. I know its not the image file cause i tried 3 different copes from different sites all having the same results. If anyone knows why this is happening or how to fix it i would appreciate the help. Also my console is softmoded with unleashx.

You sure they're different copies & not the same game or the same game repacked & uploaded, what about comments downloaders left, different sites still use the same trackers

dvd drives are not unit specific like 360 drives so you could get another, there's only 2 reasons i can think of as to why it's happening,if all other games work fine then i'd look at
1-corrupted file/s from uploader
2-bad sector on hdd

I do think two of the 3 were the same files repacked that's why I got the third. I may try a forth. How would I go about doing a scan disk or something like that on my xbox hard drive. I doubt it is that because it was previously used in a pc and never had a bad sector come up when I did monthly maintenance. the place i got my files from are theisozone.com thepiratesbay.sx and i think the third was isohunt.com. If I don't get it working in a day or so I will probably take your advice and get a new drive. I looked at a site with them and they are only $40.

at $40 you may as well buy a working xbox that way you can be sure the dvd drive actually works & preferably locally so you can see it working
