I was installing qsbs and coolrunner on my falcon for rgh hack i had everything installed and ready to go when a blob of solder came away from my iron and landed across most of the pins on one side of my nand chip. i cant write what i did or said after that or i would be banned from here :).
i ran over it with some solder wick and tried to boot but nothing happens no power at all. so i removed all of the wiring and qsbs and cleaned up all of the pads i had soldered to, thinking i had bridged some points but still no power when i tried to turn on the xbox. i i had a good look at the pins with my camera and there is deffinatly some solder still in there.
would this cause the xbox not to power on?
the stby risistor is fine i checked it with a multimeter.
is the nand fried?
or have i wiped the memory by shorting it out?
i have a back up of the nand from a couple of years ago so if its just the nand erased i could reflash once i get it cleaned.
is there anything i can do to get it out i dont want to put to much heat on it with the solder wick.
any help would be greatly apreciated.
thanks again
kev
also the orange light on the power brick remains orange it doesnt go red.

I can't really say what you did or what is wrong with the XBox, but if it's still not booting and there solder leftover that you can't get off, I'd say you're probably out of luck. Aside from being able to remove all the solder, I don't know what else you can do. You could try another nand, but that seems like a lot of work when you don't even know if that's going to solve the problem.

Well if you turned the system on with the pins shorted your nand is probably toast. It sounds like your using the wrong kind of soldering iron to begin with.

thanks for the replys i apriciate it. i was using a fine point soldering iron it happened when i was putting on the last qsb when i was just about finished a pice of solder flicked over to the nand. i dont think the nand is blown as you can short out the nand chip if you flash the wrong dash to your nand by holding down two strips of wire over the pins while powering on the console to reset it enabling you rewrite the nad with the proper dash. i just want to know of any ideas you guys might have to get the solder out of the pins. is it possible to buy a new nand chip (if it is burned out) and flash my saved nand file to it. thanks again in advance

Hopefully you didn't fry the chip.

Try Solder Wick with low heat.
You really need a soldering station to do intricate work. Adjusting the heat level is a must. Also the tips are interchangeable.
