Hi

Just received my usbpro. I've installed 0.18 fw with update tool and drivers. USBPRO now shows up in JF and in device manager which is great. However, still can't get it to recognise Hit 79. I ensure port 0*000 is set and have tried with usb only box checked.(green light goes red-yes)

I've treble checked my connections to and from usb pro and CK3i but can't find anything wrong. I've also made sure bootloader switch is set to off. I've tried with mode B button down (blue light) and up (red light). It's like the drive has died but it was working when I was trying with VIA card and onboard sata a few weeks ago (just couldn't get JF to play audio unlock CD). The only thing I've done recently was changed the laser but that seems to have made matters worse! I've checked the pcb and ribbon connectors in the drive and all seems fine.

Sure I'm not the first one to experience these probs but am getting a bit desperate now (for the sake of my son!)

Thanks for your time.

BTW I've tried a few different usb ports but that couldn't be the problem as usb is recognised but drive isn't.

Hi Tom

I finally got JF 1.89 to recognise my Hit. Problem is that it still won't play the audio unlock even using usbpro.

What's weird is that it sees the Hit but then doesn't after mode B! The only other thing to note is that the blue light now flashes in the corner of the usbpro.

I'm right back where I was now and m repeating what I did with the VIA 6421 card. I have posted on this before but was told to sit tight, not panic and wait for the usbpro to arrive. Well I'm back and would much appreciate any advice.

What's really strange is that the drive doesn't respond straight away to the eject command. Makes a sort of whining noise and only opens every three or four attempts. Also only seems to respond to two clicks as if it's stuck in mode B!!

I know you're supposed to make sure not to have the usbpro itself in mode B but I'd like to confirm that this means with the button up as opposed to depressed.

Either way it won't matter as I've tried both about 100 times!!

Thank you

Assume noone has ever got usbpro to beat the dreaded Hit 79 then.

I'll just have to keep ploughing on alone as usual.

How sad.
