Hello, I am very eager to mod my girlfriends 360. However all of the tutorials I have found online describe ways of doing that require some sort of hardware alteration and she does not trust my skills to be soldering and messing with the internals of her 360. My question is if there is a way for me to mod it without having to do to much more than opening it up, it is one of the first one the shelves and has a Hitachi disc drive. Thank you in advance!

If your finding only tutorials that require hardware addition your looking in all the wrong places. Your not looking for the Reset Glitch Hack. You need to use an ODE (Xkey) or flashing the drives firmware. Personally i have the XKEY
Mods are like games.....GO BIG OR GO HOME!!

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

I've always found the JungleFlasher tutorial intimidating. Maybe it's my low IQ. I rather take it down to the store and let them flash the box for me for a few bucks. How I wish I could do it myself.

Even I understand that tutorial, and English isn't even my mother tongue.
There are lots of pictures you can follow, you can even klick your way through.
So if you really don't understand that tutorial, it's maybe better to let your console get modified, chances are high that your skills with these sorts of things are so low that you fuck up your box for good.

Hook up my 360's optical drive to the SATA port and plug it into my girlfriends laptop through usb correct?
You can try that, but this method is notoriously unstable, your drive might not get recognized. If Jungleflasher recognizes the drive you're good to go. Don't you have a PC at home you can try flashing with? You can use the onboard sata of your PC or get this here if the drive doesn't get recognized that way:

By the way, because it was asked: My native tongue is German.

If I have a desktop with onboard SATA ports I would use the same adapter I posted above and just hook up vice versa with the usb going to the 360?

Sorry, what? You have to take the Xbox 360 apart, then the drive's data connection is a normal relatively short sata cable, you can use a normal sata cable to connect the drive to your PC mainboard, if you have one with onboard sata ports. I personally disconnect all my drives exept for the harddrive I have windows installed on before I do that, so that I don't accidentally try to flash one of my normal drives.

Okay Eisherz, I got it now. Sorry for all the confusion, but I understand now. So just to be completely sure I am going to hook up the 360 optical drive to my desktop and then use the desktop to run jungleflasher on it correct?
