dude, read the stickies. You need to research. White xbox means nothing. It's all about the type of drive you have.

hi, mate. i'm thinking about buying a 360, have all the various systems/dvd's been hacked yet? i'm not going to buy one unless it can be hacked as i have twin sons who fuck every disk they get no matter how many times i explain to them you scratch it its broken.
if they have been, how and where do i start looking up how to do it? i know jack shit about the 360 and only hacked the boys ps3. i don't use consoles myself (last one i personaly had was a snes), i'm a confirmed pc gamer.

The new slims are for no noob to tackle. They require drilling or soldering depending on which drive you get. There is several drives that go into the slim and 2 of them cannot be hacked currently. The hitachi 0500 and the Liteon 1175 are both currently untouchable.

Just buy a used XBox and you should have no problem, they're cheap as dirt too. Hell, you could prob buy a couple of them for the price of a new slim that can barely be modded anyway.

The only way of hacking it so you can play games directly off the hard drive would be to jtag it. This is only possible on certain older models of the xbox and depends on what dash you have (it needs to be a pretty old dash version I believe) and what board your xbox is. I think it's the jasper board that is jtaggable although I could be wrong. I have no experience with jtagging really other than what I've read on here and google, It would require soldering aswell I think. Your best and possibly only option is to flash the firmware on your Xbox's dvd drive and play backups. You can get second hand elite's for around £60 here in the uk which is very good value if you want a second console to flash.

you can ask the shop to install a matrix Glitcher 360 or cool runner in your xbo360.
Or you can solder the modchip by yourself. There are many information about them on internet.

The advice scorpNZ gave is good for you too. There is no phat white one that cannot be hacked.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

This is all false. You can play all games on an external hard drive using the xkey. The xkey doesn't require any soldering. It just plugs in.

1) Flash any phat or most slims to read DVD+R DL discs. Because of your twins, be ready to re-burn and re-burn and re-burn.
2) Run games from a USB hard drive: JTAG any phat 360 that has a dash pre 7371.
3) Run games from a USB hard drive: RGH any console other than the very first phat model.
4) Run games from a USB hard drive: Xk3y any console.
5) Ban the twins from the 360.

running games from a usb hdd seems the most sensible option, we did that with the ps3 until the manager(s) where updated to run them from the hdd.
which option is better, guys, between the rgh and xk3y?
i'm planning on buying one of the new slims as i've heard they're reliable and don't rrod as easy as the old modle.
