I have a couple of question's on how to replace a Xbox360 DVD Drive.

What kind of SATA do you need? How to find out if yours is compatible?

Where on "http://www.xbox-scene.com" can I get the software needed and a tutorial?:

" On how to Connect your old Xbox360 DVD drive to your PC"

"Software to read key code from old drive"
"Software to Remove old drive, put new drive on PC"
"A tutorial that explain's all of this".

Thank's for the help.

Well, it depends on what is bad on the current drive. Is it the laser or motor? If the circuit board is fine, you can simply swap that out with the new drive. If something is wrong on the board itself and jungleflasher can't read it at all then you are looking at a whole other process that I can't speak of.

I wouldn't swap the circuit board if only the laser is going bad, I'd simply swap the laser, because it's way easier and doesn't involve the need to solder.
The motor going bad is quite uncommon, but it happens. The ciruit board going bad without somebody messing it up or some external force I haven't heard of so far (especially not without the whole box going bad).

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Not all circuit boards are solder to the drive. I had a samsung drive die and had to have a member on here use some special methods to access the info on it.

Well, what I notice is that the DVD Drive hum's slightly when you put in the disk, and then abruptly stop's reading it at that same moment. On the second try there was a loud grinding sound. So, is it safe to assume that the disk cannot spin because the motor's broken?

I'm now starting to worry about the other components of the dvd drive. I'm worrying if from that buzzing noise that they'll fry from that. I think I'll stop messing with it for the time being. I hope I'm not at a dead end.

It could be a number of factors in this and is hard to tell without opening the dvd drive using a old magnet to place on the disk to secure it and see what the status is with the arm, worm motor, laser jump or spindle motor.Have you tried different disks ie cd's,standard dvd movie and game to see if there are any differences between them.Ive fixed many a dvd with all the components listed above, also a lot of pot calibrations on the laser.Sometimes its a "go by deduction" method. If your confident enough to open the xbox and dvd drive i would do as 360lifer said. But it all depends on what drive you have as there could be solder points to the PCB you may need to de-solder and resolder onto your new drive. To find out what drive you have here is a link for you http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads...vd-drive.92931/
