Can someone ever tried cross flashing with a random dvd burner like LG thats not on the offical list of supported drives on c4evaspeaks?

I ask this because I live in Australia and i cant seem to find find any of the burner max supported drives at any of the computer shops near the area that i live in.

Looks like you gotta have one shipped to you.
I wouldn't recommend trying to crossflash something not onthe list.

I read about a failed attempt on another forum. I don't remember the brand/model but for some reason LG comes to mind. The guy said he semi-bricked it (doesn't respond properly to all commands), and that now he can't write the original LG firmware back to it.
