Hey guys, its been a while since I've been here, but I need a bit of help. I'm jtagging an old xenon console, and doing it the REAL old fashion way by connecting an lpt cable to read/write. I've been following tuts on how to do this, and I know that these are super out dated, but thought I could update along the way.

So, I successfully read/saved 3 dumps, and ALL were identical. I wrote xell to the nand first, and as soon as I booted, I got E79. I went back and got xbreboot and injected my files, and wrote xbr.bin back to my nand, which went flawlessly (got no errors or any other messages). And again when I boot, I get E79.

I've still got my LPT wires connected to my board, so I'm not sure where go to from here. I've read that E79 could have something to do with wiring, but if I'm able to read/write to my nand without any errors, then how could that be wiring?

Am I supposed to remove the lpt cable before trying to boot? Any help is appreciated. And again, I know that my process is outdated, but please bare with me. Thanks.

I've got a 360 that was like this. I probably flashed the nand (LPT way) probably a dozen times before it took. The crappy thing is that even though it works, sometimes it just does a random E79. I turn it off and back on again, and I have to adjust the screen resolution, family controls, etc.. This gets annoying.

I wouldn't think that having the LPT cables connected would have anything to do with the E79, but I could be wrong. You're right about faulty wiring causing this error. Check the JTAG wires only, since you can successfully write to the nand. Make sure that none of them are shorting on the metal case. Good Luck!

Thanks BillB, I re-did my jtag wiring, and was able to successfully boot and it was going good until..... the system froze up during game play. I pulled her all apart again, pulled the x-clamps and laid down some Arctic MX-4 under the gpu and cpu. Re-installed the x-clamps and now system won't boot. Its not red ringing, the center light stays green for a suuuuper long time... I eventually shut it down as its not responding... and I'm getting no video output to my tv. So... fixed one thing, and another pops up... now I'm trying to figure this one out.
