hello,

So I have a 360 Elite & Slim, The Elite has flashed firmware but as I'm seeing that has become outdated and jtag is the new way to go.

So I have some questions about Jtag:

First off how are people getting the images to the HDD? from what I found the only way to boot the games is from a HDD
is this an FTP xfer or Copy from disc?

IF the console is JTag can it still play backups that currently work with my flashed firmware?

If an update is applied by M$ (Dashboard) does that wipe out the Jtag or will Jtag work with all dashboards including the most recent on a slim?

lastly I have heard Xecuter NAND-X & JTAG Connection Kit is the easiest and best kit to do so, but it included a nand programmer if I'm not mistaken and I assume that's reusable, If I want to do 3 xboxes can I just purchase one full kit and the connector/harness by itself to cut on costs?
I was looking at modchip central and wasn't sure if Xecuter Nand-X JTAG KIT #8 (XENON) was what I was looking for?

Thanks

Most people just download their games and store them on the HDD. You can probably install the 0800 Firmware to rip your games to the HDD though.

If the firmware is still the hacked firmware, then yes, you can still play your backups.

With a JTAG you can say goodbye to Xbox Live. M$ notices a JTAG right off the bat, and the system will be banned.

Xecuter NAND-X is a good tool, there's also Maximus 360NandFlasher. And yes, you can usually buy the parts that are soldered into the 360 for the JTAG separately.

NAND-X isn't really a modchip that you install, it's a tool that when you solder all the points to the motherboard in the 360 you can read your NAND, and then write a hacked NAND.

Hope that clears up things!

scorpNZ, I think he's talking about the new hack that has just come out. It may lead to JTAG, but for now just loads Xell.

New hack is the Reset Glitch Hack, not a jtag. These are two completely different hacks.

Glad to see nothing has changed... well not glad but eh.

Stay away from the nand-x, it has little to no support (if you have problems xecuter forums are a joke) and the quick solder boards are more of a pain than it's worth. You can reuse the pinheader for the nand-x usb interface if you don't want to spend your whole day reading and writing to and from the nand the old way. I'm sure there are other usb programmers out there and the only difference is that the nand-x has the xecuter name attached.
