Hello.

I have a modded xbox, manufacture feb 2010. Its never had the dashboard updated.

Now i cant play xgd3's on it with the current flash, and i was thinking of getting the reset glitch hack done. I wanted to download a bunch of xbla games before i get the chips done, which would require me to install a dashboard update. Which i believe will wipe my current flash, but i am not to concerned about as i want the box chipped

What i want to know is, is there any issues about having the latset dash before getting a chip installed? The installer said it would require more work, and mentioned something about a second chip. Is anyone aware of any reliability issues, or other problems going down this route. I'm not too concerned about not getting on xbox live as i dont play online.

I thought i would need the latest dash to use kinect etc, so if i got it chipped before installing a dash update, would this mean i cant upgrade the dash and play kinect?

Thanks

What dashboard are you on now? When you update first update to 14699 then 14717

Tutorial on how to update to dashboard 14699: http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/consol...99-xebuild.html

Tutorial on how to update to dashboard 14717: http://www.xbox360iso.com/tut-how-update-t561318.html

This dashboard will allow you to play most new XGD3 games but some new titles like Ghost Recon Future Soldier will require you to update to the latest dash which is (2.0.14719). In the process the update will disable RGH but team xecuter have found a workaround for it so no need to worry.

Q: Which i believe will wipe my current flash, but i am not to concerned about as i want the box chipped
A: Your harddisk on your console wont be reformatted when a dashboard update is initiated

Q: What i want to know is, is there any issues about having the latset dash before getting a chip installed
A: There are some issues but they only apply to LT and the reflashing of drive fw back to stock

Q: I thought i would need the latest dash to use kinect etc, so if i got it chipped before installing a dash update, would this mean i cant upgrade the dash and play kinect?
A: Not exactly as various kinect games have various minimum dashboard requirements depending on their release data

Thanks for the reply.

So my machines not jtagged, no idea what version of custom firmware is on there as i didnt do it myself or have the brains to ask at the time, but i assume it shouldnt be too hard to update the dash once i get it chipped. The instructions you have provided links for seem fairly straight forward. Muchos gracios

My preference is to get some xbla games straight from the market, update the dash at the same time, then take it in for the reset glitch hack. Then i'll use the above instructions if i ever get some games that need a newer version of the dash. Fingers crossed i dont shoot myself in the foot in the process :)

Thanks again
