I will try to make this as quick but detailed as possible.
I have a Liteon drive xbox 360 giving me the Open Tray Error.
1) It will play CD's 100% of the time, DVD/games less than 5% of the time.
2) I have adjusted the DVD pot many times using a multimeter, everywhere from 4 to 2.5, and never had any success.
3) Pulled the drive motor that spins the disc, lubricated it and reinstalled; no difference.
4) As far as I can tell, it is NOT the issue where the laser gets "stuck" at the very far end of the disc (too far outside to read).
5) Cleaned laser lens with acetone.
I have ordered a new laser, but I am not completely confident that swapping out the laser will help. I have a hitachi drive I can swap in, but I have zero experience with that and do not want to have to worry about xbox live bans, etc.

Anyone have some other ideas to try?
Replace it with the same model Liteon, and just swap out the IO board. Legit, no crack, and can play on line without worry.
